misunderstandings happen.....I suspect Paul Mauser asked his machinists to make him a small ring '98 with a dovetailed sight and they misunderstood...it happens that way sometimes.

I saw this the other day, if I was a decent welder, unemployeed and bored, I might pick this POS out of my scap metal bucket and screw around with it. Other than that, no thanks.

Maybe the guy got confusued and ventilated the receiver instead of installing a ventilated rib.

Isn't the freebore supposed to be at the end of the chamber and not the end of the muzzle?

The receiver ring dovetail looks consistent with work done on original Oberndorf commerical Mausers at the factory. Lots of pictures of such things in the book by Jon Speed, Walter Schmid, & Reiner Herr.
