45-70 Lever Raptor
My dad drew a Utah elk tag after 16 years and is dead set about wanting to shoot it with his 1885 high wall. He wants to shoot the best bullets available and I was wondering if anyone has used the lever raptor. I've read the whole thread on the big bore forum and believe the raptors are the best bullet, just wanted to see if anyone had experience with them.

When I use the 19th century rifles, I use the bullets made for them; Lead and black powder.
Otherwise, why use a high wall? Just go with a 338 Mag and modernize the whole experience.

when you say lever raptor, do you mean the CEB bullets?

and yes, using bp and lead will kill critters -- using modern loads does a good job, too

Yep, the CEB ones. I was just wondering if anyone has killed anything at 45-70 velocities. I know Michael used it in the B&M rifles but at higher velocities.

I would call CEB since they probably have the most access to hunting reports of that combo and ask for load data whilst you have them on the horn.
