i think its great that some manufacturers are selling lever action rifles and browning is going in a right direction with magnum calibers but it is not enough. browning comes out with the 8mm mag WHY! who was clammering for a 8mm short mag? who? let me know...the 45-70 and 450 marlin are great and have their place but i want a 375 and 338 magnum calibers. i am two projects away from making a 375-338 in the browning b.l.r. (375 h+h equivilent) i dont know why the big boys of manufacturing arnt taking a closer look at the people turning lever actions into 458 win mags 50-110s ect...the best gun in a bad situation is a pump or lever action. some would say a double rifle but i would rather have a few more ready to go if needed. brownremchester listen up...we lever action people want better calibers! and a little respect i tell ya

Boomstick...I hear ya....but you're in the extreme minority here. Browremchester needs volume to justify these changes and frankly...it's a bolt action world when it comes to DGR.....even doubles are a minurity and their cost is out of range for 99.99% of us.

Your earlier thread about the Taylor in the BLR is the way to go if you truly want .375H&H power in a lever. The .416 taylor as well....

Find someone to rebarrel your BLR and go after the bigguns.

vap...thanks for your blessing on the blr...question...i am doing more research on the parent case of the 300 w.m. and the 338 w.m. looking at the two carts and weighing the pros and cons, which is better? the 300 w.m. comes with almost everything done but the rebarrel job it seems and the 338 w.m. needs a ream job? deeper seating of the barrel? rail work? the 300 has more case volume but has to be opened up more and has a shorter neck. looking at cost feeding issues and performance all said and done which is better? i think i need to post this in the gunsmithing board but since you seem to be in the minority of rats ass givers who care about un bolted actions (even though the blr technicaly is a bolt action) i am asking you. what say you vap? beer

I think the idea of the .375 Taylor in a BLR is pretty cool. thumb thumb Mine is built on a Ruger 77 Tang safety model and I like it very much. Recoil is not all that bad. The rifle is in a Ramline stock and has a Pachmeyr Decelerator recoil pad. The whole package weighs 7.5 pounds. Recoil is noticably less than my Ruger #1 in .375 H&H which weighs 9.5 pounds. I can easily duplicate the H&H's velocity in it's 22" barrel. JMHO, but I think it's one wildcat the factories should have adopted a long time ago.

I love lever actions, but I think some folks try to make them into something they should not...

I have a couple of 30-30s, a 25-35, in Winchesters...A 250-3000, .308 in Savagge 99s and I have had and hunted with them for many years...

I love to hunt behind my house for Mule Deer with my 25-35 and take shots only up to a 100 yards..so I have to hunt..It takes me back to an earlier time...I have shot a lot of deer with that 25-35 and a few elk with the 250 Savage back when things were simple.
