| WAIT! Look at a Marlin 1895gs. If you have one already, look at a Marlin 1895g. If you have one already look at a Sharps. If you have one already, go ahead with the....30-30. I don't know why I don't enjoy the caliber...I had a bad experience with a Winchester 94 in 30-30 once though, which might explain it... Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! I always chuckle when I see statements like this. If I was a betting man, I would put money on the "bad experience" having more to do with a rifle, bullet selection, or the shooter than the "caliber" itself. I have had a couple of "bad experiences" with a 30-30, but in both my incidences, it was bullet failure due solely to the bullet that I had selected and had absolutely nothing to do with the 30-30 cartridge in general.

| Very well said Jeff. My only bad experience with the .30-30 was when I was still a noob at the ripe old age of 15 and excitement got the best of me. I yanked the trigger sending the Winchester silvertip into the spine of the doe standing NEXT to the buck that was in my crosshairs. I was sorely tempted to blame the rifle and cartridge and buy something even larger so I could add the extra dimension of flinch into the equation but my ma slapped the crap outta me and said, "you need more practice", lol. The .30-30 has accounted for about 95% of the big game animals I've harvested. I like it so much that I couldn't pass up the ugly old Stevens 325 in the used rifle rack with the $99 tag on it the other day. Aut vincere aut mori |

| The 30-30 levergun, a true American classic, buy it and enjoy it, personally I cpould live without the AE. My first two big game rifles were 30-30's, Win 94 and a Stevens 340? I miss them both dearly. |

| I bought it Went and shot it today and it shoots and cycles like it is brand new! I know that the .30-30 isn't capable of the things my other rifles are, but for up close I don't think it could fail My friend on the board "Carwashman" has the Stainless guide gun in 45-70 and a BFR in 45-70 as well so I get my .458dia thrills off of his whenever my .458winmag isn't with me I'll get some pictures up to excite the thread a lil more

| I am glad you like your "new" gun. What ammo did you try? I highly recommend the Hornady LeverEvolution. It changes the whole complexion of the capabilities of the 30-30.

| Hi Jeff! I was just shooting some Remington corelokts. We have dies and more brass so we are just mainly trying to get our brass together to reload some for it. We've shot the LeverEvolution out of the 45-70 and like you said, it does make it a more capable cartridge!!

| I have been wanting to start reloading for my 30-30's, but with the way the LeverEvs shoot in my guns and the performance of them, I just can't justify it. If the LeverEvs cost more than $18 per box, I might still consider reloading, but I have 15 boxes of LeverEvs in my safe right now and will buy more every time Midway puts them on sale. In case you can't figure it out, I LOVE LEVEREVOLUTIONS.

| It was not the cartridge, it was the rifle. I was about 9 or 10, grandpa said he had the 30-30 ready to go hunting and it was sighted in. Anyways, I get a big buck standing less than 100 yards away. I have a solid rest (log) and get ready to shoot the buck. BANG, nothing, BANG, nothing, BANG, nothing, BANG, nothing. Buck runs off unhit. Later we go to the range and the rifle isn't even on the paper. Of course I don't remember if it was the mounts, rifle, scope was off, whatever, but I haven't hunted with a 30-30 again. Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! | Great looking 94. Although the 30-30 is not a hot number compared to many newer chamberings. Remember it has accounted for argueably the most game in north america, ranging from smallest to largest. You could do alot worse! |

| I agree! I have a .30-06 and in todays time no one is looking to run out and get a 30-30, but since it is the All American Classic Deer Rifle I decided I had to have it. Heck, maybe it will follow me into the pig woods!

A choice you will not soon regret! Good looking rifle by the way. On apape rthe .30-30 is underwhelming but what makes it so successful, IMHO, is the fact that it is so easy to shoot well. And, for woods hunting where you carry your weapon, the levergun is a natural. I wish you much success in those pig woods! |

| When I was looking I ended up buyin TWO. A Used Ranger in 30-30 that was parkerized and jeweled for smoother faster action. It looked better than then new ones so I bought it, then ordered a Trapper w/ 16" barrel/saddle ring in 45LC and ordered a Lardge Loop from the Win parts dept and put that on too.. They just look and shoot awesome as in fun. Everyone should have one of these hanging on the wall. Where can you buy anything that was made in 1800 and still looks the same today??
Try Rem. Accerator in 30-30 55 gr SP for Coyotes. |

| Thanks Marko! I've taken it out and shot it and cleaned it up and I think it will stay with me for a long time. A very good shooter!
