I got Legacy Sports new catalog in the mail yesterday. They are offering their version of the 1886 Winchester (strongest lever ever built IMHO) in rifle and carbine versions of the 45-70 for about $1400 retail. I need one of these.

It doesn't say anything about safety systems or any of that garbage. They make the M1873's and SAA's and other western firearms without the goober safety. I got an 800 number to call and check.

I wonder if there is any reason it cant be made into a 45-90 since that is what they were chambered in or use flat nose rifle bullets.

Boomie, et al,

the lifter restricts the cartridge oal to about 2.74". You could do a 45-90, do like I did and make one in 50-110, 40-82, about a dozen cartridges were originally done. After Doug called me, I hooked him up with a friend at Legacy. I am dying to know what went on.

I don't see any reason that they cann't be made into a 45-90.

On an other note:

I will have some Turnbull Mfg guns coming out in about 30 days. These are USRAC Dlx Td guns that have been rebarreled 24-26" cotagon, full mag, restocked with 1X wood SG butt/pad (unless you want the original stock configuration) and checkered to match the FE with the color to look like an original WInchesters, removed the safety and the cut out in the hammer, color cased, modified for the 475 Turnbull. With the FET I plan/hope to have them priced about $3800 and with 3XXX wood front and rear and 24 LPI Mullered boarder about $4500-$4750. Drilled and taped for the original tang sight spacing.
All the markings of the original gun will be removed as it will be a Turnbull Manufactured rifle and have all of our markings. You can have any engraving as you want for additional money. If you wanted a different caliber I am sure we can accommidate you on this request.

I tend to use more than enough gun.

Doug,

you going to tell us about the conversation with Gene Miller (owner of Legacy)? I spoke with him this afternoon, but he danced around and plans to until he can talk with you. A deal there could get you into the custom serial number business too.

I talked to them and just asked if I can get one to look at and see if it might work for us in any way. TIme will tell. Other than that nothing to report. Trying to see if it might be a source for parts use for conversions etc. and any thing else that comes up.

thanks Doug. They are supposed to be done from an original Rhino Chiappa owns. Let's hope for 100% parts interchangeability, and availability!
Enjoying Dallas?
