Crazyhorseconsulting, I “respectfully” disagree. We were a “very” divided nation during the 1860’s.....many thousands of Americans died as a result. Yet, we eventually came together as a nation....consequently building the greatest (in many ways) nation on earth.

It can happen again....though, it will be a very difficult transformation. Possibly, will require another shedding of blood! Whatever is required..... to save the Republic as it was created! memtb

The Civil War could have been averted if the Founding Fathers had abolished slavery when drafting the Declaration of Independence and Bill Of Rights. They didn't and the Civil War was the result of their decision.

America is not going to come together for a LONG time. The reasons America is so divided at thios point in time is based solely on differences in Political Ideology.

That is not going to change, except to probably get worse.

Getting up in arms over a stupid cartoon illustrates just how screwed up this country is. The American Indians suffered the exact same fate that every civilization, World Wide has suffered practically since Day One.

I don't see Indians whining considering how many White Eyes they scalp every Friday and Saturday at all the Casinos they have around this country!

You are free to disagree and believe as you choose, I just do not agree with you or a few others on here on this topic, it was nothing more than a more aggressive/opportunistic race of humans over powering another race.

Look into the actually history of American Indians, long before Europeans came to America, mpore aggressive tribes were forcing less aggressive tribes from their lands, up to exterminating other tribes.

People keep throwing out the possibility of Americans having another shooting war among themselves, I have this funny feeling that there are not as many Americans want to see that become a reality as some want to believe.

The cartoon was just that, a CARTOON and to the best of my memory over the years Americans used to be a lot thicker skinned than that!

Historically....you are “not” entirely correct! There were many causes of the War of Northern Aggression, the primary reason was about States Rights.....one of the freedoms given to the individual states. “Slavery” was “ONE” of the States Rights issues....among several others!

While done for a worthy cause....Abraham Lincoln was the first President to abandon the Constitution! Often repeated since!

I certainly “Do Not” condone slavery. It was/is a true black mark on our history. However, the are several nations that participated in slavery, after it was abolished in America. In fact, in some places .....it is practiced today!

This really has NOTHING to do with the Civil War and States Rights or Slavery!!!

Nothing in the banner has ANYTHING to do with ANY of the issues concerning the Civil War, PERIOD!!!

It has to do with what happened between whites and Indians, much of what took place happened AFTER the Civil War!!!

Are there any blacks in that banner, NO.

It has been discussed many times that had our Founding Fathers taken a stance concerning slavery the Civil War might not have occurred.

What happened concerning the treatment of Indians by the U.S. Government has been well and factually documented and cannot be denied.

What other states rights were in question? Look, if you study the events leading up the Civil War, it was 100% slavery. Hell, just Google that topic and see if ANYTHING comes up that didn't involve slavery.
