Lots of luck Mr. Shores, you have done all in your hands and then a bit more in order for this to be successful, go ahead and enjoy your adventure and hopefully you will get a nice sheep!

It will likely all melt by the time you get there. In my experience up there this early in the season it may snow for a day or two, but in another day or two it's all gone.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Thanks all. In Seattle now. Should be in Alaska around 2.

Carried a backpack of sorts for the first time since the injury. It is my carry on and it is 100% on my shoulders. While I can feel it, it is not a problem. I am optimistic.

I have spent most of the trip thus far thinking of ways to lower the weight in my pack. I can come up with a few ounces here and there. Maybe a pound at best.

Still taking the one pound pancho? If you want to ditch anything before the trip I will hold onto it for you and get it back to you.

Cheers

Saw Larry last night. He looked ready to go. Wish him the best of luck and safety. Our weather sucks right now.

After listening to his guide's accent I though he might be on a Banteng hunt. Big Grin

Cheers
Jim

A finer man and/or group never existed. Great night out gossiping all the secrets of AR embers who were not there. I could write a book.
Seriously, a great time with great folks: Doc Brent, Mr and Mrs Wojo, Pete and his New York accent, Larry--and what a fine host he is, and little old me, Cal.

Good news. Congrats.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

I just got to Deadhorse about 11 last night. Packing now. Flying to Anchorage then home tonight.

I will start working on the report on the plane. I will probably have to wait until I get home to post pics as photobucket on my phone is having issues. In addition , most of the pics and the best pics are on the guides camera, a fairly large professional camera. I should have those in about 3 weeks. I have a few on my phone and a few on my camera until then.

I will say it was both fantastic and horrible (weather). Nothing like spending 3.5 days in a one man tent while fogged in and raining outside .

Glad you had a successful hunt and those days in the tent just make it better when it happens. Safe travels.

That only happens in Alaska, never happens in Canada?
