Yes, I'd say that rifle is a keeper.

Let us know what you think of it, once you have handled and shot it a bit. Specifically, how smooth is the action? Thanks.

Constructoman, exceptional wood there, for a Zastava. Nice one!

Guys, be aware that the wood quality on Zastava's is extremely variable, so it's pot luck on what you get. The Zbrojovka Brno ZKK series were also noted for this; but the CZ550's are much more consistent.

The Zasty actions tend to be a bit rough as received, but are easily smoothed up. Minor stoning of raceways, deburring and breaking of sharp edges plus maybe a feed ramp polish is about all that's required. The stocks can usually use a rub back with steel wool, a few coats of Tru-Oil, and pointing up of the checkering. The 'recoil pads' are about as yielding as a chunk of truck tire, too.

Against that, the buyers here report excellent hunting accuracy, and overall they're excellent value, even in RH [where there's a wider range of competitors].

Cheers,
Doug

I just sent this email to K-Var Sales, we'll see what they say.

Dear sir,

This email is in regards to the group buy of left hand Mausers that Elliot Milmeister has arranged.

These were promised to be delivered 90 days after 2/10/12. August 8th makes it 180 days, twice the promised delivery date. We've heard nothing but promises of "they'll be here next week...next week...next week" since May. We heard that they were in the USA, we've heard that they are finished but had not shipped from the factory and that they waiting for the factory to "finish the paperwork".

What is the true story here? All we can do is wait, but why is it taking so long to get the rifles delivered? What steps are you at K-Var taking to get the rifles delivered as promised?

We, your customers in this group buy, are in communication with each other via internet forums. This is a topic of much frustration and it is definitely reflecting poorly on your organization.

If there are delays then there are delays. If people are kept informed they can weather those delays. But the misleading information and lack of a clear effort on behalf of your customers is really detrimental to your reputation.

If you could provide an honest and clear update about the status of these rifles it would go a long way toward calming the fears of your current (and possibly future) customers.

Thank you,
(me)

I received a very quick reply from Elliot:

"I was told yesterday by my manager that the rifles were flying out of Serbia today and we should have them here by probably Tuesday. I should know on Monday for sure if they are in country and on their way. As soon as I have confirmation I will start calling everyone to get the order finished so that we can get them right back out to all of you. I have given you guys all of the information I have been given. I’m sorry that it is taking longer than I was told it would, but there isn’t anything more that I can do to speed it up."

Flying large shipment of guns out of Serbia on a Friday and he expects them to be "in country" on a Monday.

I would be surprised if that is the case but
hold out hope for you lot.

Sounds like another few weeks to ship, then clearing customs, then shipped to Elliot. Seems like about a 1 October delivery date to me. I'll be pleased with that.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Webster's might consider this as a definition of 'next week'. Roget's would certain entertain it as a synonym.

His manager is full of **it and is using Elliot as a pawn to pass along the **it as he has in the past.

In country is one thing; in-hand for distribution is another.

"Man of action" maybe, more like "man tired of waiting". Wink Don't want to bite the only hand that can help us but figured it wouldn't hurt to prod gently.

As far as "the check is in the mail", uh, I mean, "the rifles are in the air", yeah, I'm remaining optimistic but will withhold judgement until next week. Oh, wait, there're those two words again... Roll Eyes

Since the guns are being shipped to the buyers today, some of us probably feel a little silly about now.
