If we do get them I have the somewhat sad feeling we'll be the only ones. I suspect K-VAR is as frustrated with this as we are, and won't be in any big hurry to repeat the process.

Keep in mind that K-Var most likely had to pay for the entire order in advance so they probably have more invested in this deal than any one of us. I believe Elliot will get the rifles to us as soon as possible if for no other reason than to free up his cash flow. I think we just have to be patient.

I don't think that is the case at all. Let's face it, K-VAR's entire business seems to be importing various former Soviet bloc weapons. A little shipment delay should be SOP for them. tu2

That's what makes this inability to explain or update us so strange. You would think that they have a record of how long after production is done that it takes to complete the importation process.

It also seems strange to me that they can't seem to get information from the factory since they deal with them all the time.

We just have to be patient. No one else is knocking on our doors trying to provide us with left hand Mausers. I give K-VAR credit for trying to make it happen even if it takes double or triple the time. We will eventually have something tangible. I would rather get them late and properly built than rushed and mediocre. Being rifle loonies I'am sure all of us have other rifles we can get by with for the hunting season. Eventually it will go through and as an optimist I hope every one will be happy with the outcome and we don't burn our bridges with Elliot for future purchases. I totally agree a little communication will go a long way and put us all at ease.

I'm in agreement (mostly) but I did make the mistake of getting my hopes up. One way or another I'm reasonably assured I'll either get a rifle or get my deposit back---I just hope I'm not ultimately disappointed by the whole affair.

A little delay is no problem to me (if I live long enough.) I must take delivery through my FFL in the US, then mine will go into storage, awaiting the day I get back there. dancing

I just want to close the deal, so the Serbs understand that this is a good customer base for them and that we really value LH forged steel Mausers. Elliott is to be commended for putting this together for us.

Communication is vitally important to customer service. Folks will wait patiently if they're given the truth. Falsehoods and empty promises are bad but no communication is even worse.

Obviously there isn't anything we can do except wait, but I'd sure like it if K-VAR, the Serbs or whoever is holding these up would poop or get off the pot.

I ordered a 7X57 and a .223, but after my experiences with this new LH Ruger SS .308 I could be very happy with LH Hawkeyes in 7mm-08 and .223. Can't justify those while these others are coming but it's getting sort of tiring waiting.

Promise - 90 days
Reality - 160 days and counting.

An example of how shipping from another country can be delayed. I bought a set of 20 bore snap caps for an English gun with the maker's name on them. They were shipped June 26th, 2 days later, June 28th they arrived in NY. They haven't left there in 3 weeks. Most likely held up in customs.

I'm sorry your guns are in limbo.

I have a Type A personality, so I know how I'd feel if I was waiting for a gun to be shipped.

I wonder how many cancellations and request for refund of deposit K-Var has received as a result?

I want the rifle and am willing to wait for it. You couldn't get a custom made in anywhere near the same time frame or for anywhere near the same money. A hundred bucks won't break me, and in any case, I don't expect to lose it. If it bothers you to have that amount tied up in a deposit, you shouldn't have got in line.

They will be here when they get here.

That's what you get with unrealistic expectations.

If someone wanted a refund, I'd give it to them,
after all, I doubt K-Var will have any problem selling the guns once they hit the US for probably more than you are paying for them.

And considering you have paid only a deposit whereas they would have outlayed the whole amount and then some, I think you got the good end of the deal.

Probably ZERO.

We know how tough it is to get real forged and machined steel LH Mausers for a modest (no Granite Arms custom) price. This is a great deal for us. We have only committed a hundred bucks at this stage, which is low bet, small change money in terms of what we are hoping.

So what if the stocks are not fine Circassian walnut? We can handle that at the price. Let's see.

I agree with Sharpesguy. It is a huge bargain. They will sell a ton of them. Just hang in there.

Yes, but you know that they have been shipped and obviously you know that they are in NY so someone has updated you.

In response to my email to Elliot this morning asking if he had had any word on the status of the rifles:

Elliot said, "Just the same thing I was told before. They are ready to ship and we are just waiting on the Serbians to finish the paperwork on their end."

If you run a search on 'left hand' on the TradeEx site, they also have .30-06 and 9.3x62 in stock.

Wednesday, August 8th will be 180 days, exactly double the promised delivery.

We have two choices.

1. Get all mad about it, and the rifles will be delivered when they are delivered.

2. Not get all mad about it, and the rifles will be delivered when they are delivered.

There is a third choice: cancel your orders and demand refunds due to nonperformance.

Third choice is looking like the best option.

Tell the Serbs to stuff if, and badger the American companies for what we want in left hand versions.

Granite Mt. Arms in AZ. is the only producer of left hand Mausers. Six month wait and $ 3,250 minimum for an action in the white. There are hybrids such as Dakota, MRC, used Winchesters.

The only left hand Mausers produced in the U.S. in the past were by Fred Wells in Prescott AZ. and David Gentry in MT. Both regretfully no longer with us and produced very few. Crandall Tool and Machine Co. produced a few but no longer in existence.
I'am sure there are exceptional gunsmiths that can build them from scratch if you want to wait years and double what GMA will charge.
It is easy for me it, is choice #2 the price we are paying is very fair I have paid more just for a barrel. Wait time is on par with everything else out there available to us. Granted it was too optimistic to expect them in 90 days. I think Elliot tried to make it happen in good faith he's probably getting the run around from Zastava. Patience.....

At this point we are so far into it we might as well see it through to the end.

Besides, I have a brand new set of Redding 7X57 dies on the shelf along with a Lee collet die, modified case for the headspace gauge, 100 new 7X57 cases, 400 7mm bullets and two sets of scope bases that won’t fit anything but these rifles. Hate to see all of that go to waste.

And finally, Mr. Murphy is just waiting for the first person to cancel their order. Once that happens then he’ll release the rifles and all the rest of us will be posting how great they are. Wink

Yup,

There are some lefties at this site.
There is (for $749.00) a 9.3x62 that has an unusual wood grain.

You need to go to page 9 for the best of the lefties.

Rifle delivered today. Was pleasantly surprised by the fit and finish of the stock. Overall for the price I would say it is a great deal. I think the front and rear sites may have to be replaced, I can see them blacking out on dark game. Took a few pictures. Will post as soon as I can upload and figure out how to post pictures.
