First it was the federal court order to kill sheep and goats in the Mauns Kea game management area by shooting them from a helicopter. These "hunts" bsflag are now going to be carried out four times a year. Now the state DLNR has found a new use for helicopters and rifles. http://www.kgmb9.com/main/content/view/16612/40/

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

I'm a tad ambivalent about this. The fact that they allow animal rights people a voice in the opposition makes me want to cheer for the DLNR. However, I hate that they wasted the meat. An easy solution would be to drop hunters off in the forest using the helicopters, and then go get a big transport chopper to pick up all the carcasses and move them to a processing facility. yeah, easy, I know, but if they'd use the money they're getting from the government anyway... third thing is that cows are domestic. hate it, but they're pests like feral pigs are elsewhere.

I still feel ill about the mouflon situation, but that's a little different because of what they are vs the cattle.
