Outfitter: Alexander McLean, McLean Sporting Safaris

Agent: Jeff C. Neal, Inc. (website)

Species: Buffalo/Plainsgame

Dates: July 7- 14, 2012 OR July 15-21, 2012

Details: (ONLY 2 AVAILABLE)

Our outfitter in the Niassa reserve of Mozambique is offering us a good deal on buffalo for this summer for a vacancy he's got in the middle of the season. This concession sits in the Northeastern corner of the reserve near the Tanzania Border and encompasses over 1.4 million acres of mostly uninhabited bush. There is not a more wild place in Africa to hunt buffalo, and this is an excellent place to bring an observer as it's very scenic. These hunts are 6 full hunting days with 7 nights of accommodation included in the price.

Camps are luxury canvas tents - First class as far as tented camps go and the food is spectacular. Jeff's son is actually in camp at the moment setting everything up for this season and will be there as an apprentice to the PH. Hunters need to arrive/depart in Pemba, Mozambique, where they are picked up at the airport and flown to camp in the companies private plane (included in the cost). These hunts are done on a 1x1 basis and include the following:

$12,250.00 INCLUDING the following:

6 hunting days and 7 nights of accommodation
1 observer for the duration of the hunt
Charter flights from Pemba Mozambique
Government hunting license
1 rifle import permit
Trophy handling to the exporter
Buffalo License
Buffalo trophy fee ($3,000 refunded if not killed or wounded and lost)

Excluded: Additional license and trophy fees, dip and pack of trophies and international airfare to and from Pemba, Mozambique.

EDIT - THIS HUNT CAN ALSO BE TAKEN AS A 10 DAY LEOPARD/BUFFALO HUNT FROM JULY 7-18 FOR $27,750.00 INCLUDING THE BUFFALO AND LEOPARD LICENSE AND TROPHY FEES, PLUS AN OBSERVER AND THE SAME ITEMS AS ABOVE.

Size expectations in this area are anything from 36-46" on the buffalo with solid bosses. Dates available are listed above, but I've put them below in more detail as well:

July 7, 2012 - Arrive Pemba, Mozambique. Charter to camp.
July 8-13 - Hunt Buffalo
July 14, 2012 - Back to Pemba and homeward bound

OR

July 14, 2012 - Arrive Pemba, Charter to camp
July 15-20 - Hunt Buffalo
July 21, 2012 - Back to Pemba and homeward bound

THERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL PLAINSGAME AVAILABLE ON THIS HUNT BUT I AM AWAITING CONFIRMATION OF AVAILABLE QUOTA BEFORE POSTING WHICH SPECIES ARE AVAILABLE ON LICENSE

Please let me know if you have any further questions at this time.

Thanks!

Greg

If I weren't already booked....

Interesting that in the first picture, the "unfocused" buffalo in the rear may even be better than the old man in the front???? Wow!

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

I have a map of northern Mocambique fron CNA. Is your concession east of the Niassa reserve or west? My map shows some rivers and villages. Can you provide some location details please. Thanks

Judge
You are correct the bull in the background is a monster, much bigger than the one in front.

This block is a good area and is apart of the Niassa Reserves hunting Buffer areas (Block A).
The area does have some inhabitance to the north but in general it is quite wild.
It encompasses the east bank of the most northern reaches of the Lugenda river.

Correct, it's the L9 or Hunting Block A concession on the NE Side of the reserve, which shares approximately 130-140 KM border with the Lugenda River. I think the ad was (unintentionally) misleading in saying "uninhabited". There are approximately 200 villagers within the entire concession, most of which are on the far west boundary. For an area this size, that's really nothing but I want to set the record straight that there are some little villages in the concession.

Tom,

Possibly, I'll ask them. They gave us this price saying "and no charge for one observer", so I don't know if they can cut it down much more but it doesn't hurt to ask!

Sorry, just saw this. Yes, these are still available although I have one of the slots on hold for a short time while a client checks on available of time off. So, technically both are open pending deposit but one is still available for sure.
