Joe Schuster, whom I hunted with last September had a group back out of his June black bear date and is looking to fill them. These are guided (1x1) black bear hunts over stand sites around Beluga Lake, Alaska. There's 4 spots open 2 SPOTS OPEN NOW (which is the whole camp) and the hunt will take place the week of June 7-13 (hunting days 8-12). You'll need to get to Anchorage Alaska, and from there you'll be picked up at the airport and flown to the remote camp. Joe's airplanes are all well maintained and newer models, so they're very safe. If you're a bow hunter, this hunt is definitely for you as well. They have multiple bait sites and most people who go on this hunt end up using their bows for at least one bear. All hunts are guided 1 hunter per guide and each stand sight is accessed by a boat from the main camp.

The accommodations are semi-cabins that are perminant style wall tents with wood floors (I can email you photos if you'd like), and there's tons of black bears within a few miles of of camp. Hunters who tag out early can take a second bear ($1,000 trophy fee plus tag), fish for Char in the lake or fly out when Joe comes in on his scheduled meat runs.


$2,500.00 includes all flying from Anchorage to camp, 1x1 guiding, meals and lodging, skinning of the bear and getting it back to Anchorage, one bear per hunter and 5 full hunting days with 2 additional days allowed for travel.

Extras would be as follows:

Getting bear home from Anchorage, fishing license, Black Bear tag $225.00, ($300 for non-Americans, hunting license for $85.00, second bear tag and trophy fee and gratuities to guides if warranted.

A second bear may be purchased for $1000 plus tag fee


Anyone wanting 2 bears will get two (the limit is 5 in this area but he limits each hunter to two bears). Good cheap hunt for the spring.


Realistic size expectations for bears on this hunt are anywhere from 250-400 lb bears.
