Hi all,

I just acquired 4 more bulls on quota to be hunted as non exportable trophies, in the Salambala conservancy in the Caprivi. (2 already sold, so 2 left.)
My company, Ndumo Safaris will do the outfitting, and myself or Fred Bezuidenhout will most likely be the PH assigned to the hunt.

This hunts are sold as an elephant hunting experience, and the tusks and skin goes to the government, so no part is available for export or local hunters to keep. In the spirit of this, we will target non trophy bulls, in other words, broken tusk bulls, bulls with weak genetics, or occational problem bulls.

Normal price on thses hunts are as follows:
7 day hunting @ US$ 1250/ day = 8 750
2 travel days @ US$ 125/ day = 250
trophy fee for elephant = 5000
Total: US$ 14 000

Discounted price for this hunt, US$ 12 000.
50% deposit secures date and quota, 50% payable at end of hunt.

Open dates currently:
now to 26 April
23 May to 30 May
1-14 June
20-31 Aug
1-22 Oct
November
(some other dates we can possibly make a plan with, so please talk to me if this interest you.)

If you finish early, you are welcome to stay in camp on the Zambezi, and fish for tigers or bream (depending on boat and camp availability, and your cost will just be the fuel for the boat.)

Accomodation will be in tented camp in hunting area, and includes all meals, soft drinks, bottled water, beer, wine and liquor (local) in moderation.

Some examples of such hunts:

I sold every single one of these non-export Elephant hunts in this block for 4 years straight. Fred probably did 80% of the hunts for me, he knows this area very well. You can't find Non-export Bulls in very many places. Every single hunter I had on this hunt shot his Elephant within the first few days.

It's a good hunt at a very good price.

Is this a day or night hunt? How is the $12K broken down between day rates/trophy fee? $7K day rates and $5K trophy fee? What airport do you fly into and are there any other costs like charter flights, airport pick up /return etc.

i am sure Karl will be along, but i have done this hunt( see hunt report). it is a day hunt. no charter fees, fly commercial to Katima or Kasane, then drive to area. lots of elephant, really can't imagine a scenario were you would be unsuccessful. i shot mine the second day( first day was just spent driving around and checking things near camp) and could have shot another the next day but passed on it. another guy flew in from Pretoria on short notice and shot his the following day. this is just across the Chobe river from Chobe National park/Botswana where the Chobe meets the Zambezi. elephants seem to move back and forth between the park and the concession.

Tom Z, Jerry is correct.

This is a day hunt (not legal to hunt 30 min after sunset in Nam, unless a problem animal has been declared*).

No charters or extra costs, I will pick you up at Kasane (2h flight from Jhohannesburg) or Katima (2hours from Windhoek), and drop you off there again.

Breakdown is exactly as you stated, 7K for dayfees and 5K for TF.

(* Actual declared problem animals can be exported if hunted on a trophy hunting permit, but the decleration process takes some time most of the time, so we sometimes shoot an animal that is responsible for some trouble at a village on this general permit, which does not allow exportation of any trophy. An actual exportable PAC elephant would be about double in TF, in other words 10K, but this is not what I have advertised here...)

Done this hunt...it was great. Saw probably 200 Ele in 7 days. Even after we tagged out, we continued to stalk groups just for fun. Got charged, stood up to a young bull at 9 feet...probably got more Elephant experience in 7 days than most get in 4-5 hunts.

Here's "Curious George".

Like I have said a 100 times
Karl is the Guru of elephant hunting.
Nobody does it any better or has as many elephants.
My avitar shows mine.
I have shot 2 with Karl. Soon as I can muster up some more money will be back.
He also has some great other game if he has any permits left. Roan, Sable and a great looking Zebra.

exact same experience for me. lots of elephants and lots of chances to get up close and personal. and i quickly learned there is a great deal of size difference between a bull and a cow!!

pretty sure the answer is yes, assuming you reserve some of the quota in advance.

pevtsovy, yes there is the possibility of some PG hunting as well, either in the Caprivi or on a ranch close to Windhoek on your way out. The Caprivi option just has limited quota and number of species, but can be a very rewarding hunt.
At the moment, I have kudu, zebra, warthog, common duiker and blue wildebeest left, with impala a possibility in one of the neighbouring areas.

I just booked this hunt with Karl for the end of May. Really looking forward to this hunt. Jon Biebs made it sound so good I couldn't resist. That's the problem with hunting in Africa - It's so addictive, This will be trip #9 for me.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......
