Emirates is my favorite airline. I fly it probably 4-5 times a year. Their seats in economy on their 777 suck. They are so narrow that both my shoulders stick out. 10 across seating on 777 is terrible and most airlines are moving to it. My advice is if one is broad shouldered get the seats in the very back of the plane on the window. https://www.seatguru.com/airli..._3class_private.php# The economy seating in their a380 is awesome. Everything else about Emirates is great - service, planes, entertainment system, food ect. Dubai sucks getting from terminal a to c and the bus ride for the flight to zim. Seats can’t get any narrower is the only upside. They are only flying 777 out of Orlando and into Harare so I will have to suck it up. Mike

Go biz class and all of those problems go away. Realistically, their biz fares are pretty reasonable. Low $4k's from US to any of the African destinations that I've checked. Will J. Parks, III

Did Biz for the first time last year. Pretty reasonable if you ask me compared to Delta First pricing. Got a cheap upgrade from Biz to First next month going but will be doing Biz on the way back. Will be nice to see the difference. Mac

Mac, I'd like to hear from you on the difference between first and biz. I'm headed out next month also and using biz. Did it last year and it was great. Don't know how they could make first better.

Emirates first is great. IMO much better than business. Better food/drink, much better seats/beds and of course privacy. Privacy is my main reason for flying first.

Emirates First Class is head and shoulders above their Business Class. I like having my own little room, all the space in the world for doing whatever one wishes to do, especially on long flights. A few days ago I came back on Emirates, flying First. I had lunch, which was chicken biryani. They brought two small cups one with pickles and one with chutney. I finished the chutney. Suddenly, a new cup of chutney arrived, without me asking for it. "I saw that you like chutney, so I brought you some more. Anything else I can get you?" "Thank you very much, not right now. I might have a coffee later on" About half an hour later, I walked to the front and asked for a coffee. While standing waiting for my coffee, we started talking, and telling jokes. Non of them were what you might call politically correct! The girls were in fits! This has always been the case flying with Emirates! They even keep Walter happy

As Saeed said, Emirates First beats the heck out of Emirates Business. You have your own compartment, the food is excellent (I normally start with the caviar) and there is an endless supply of Dom Perignon (2005 last time I flew). The service is excellent and if you decide to leave first class and spend some time at the bar behind business class (on the A380) they will take a bottle of whatever premium liquor you were drinking in first so you don't have to endure the business class swill (Although even in business I believe the well scotch was Johnnie Walker Blue). The A380 also has a shower in first which is great 3 or 4 hours prior to landing during a 16 hour flight. If you have the opportunity, go for it. The Emirates First Class Lounge in Dubai is also excellent, especially the scotch and cigar bar where you can also order great food and wine. I recommend the steak and frites with a bottle of Cote de Rhone. It's all complimentary other than you have to pay for the cigars.

I'm flying Emirates for the first time when I go to Zim this August. I opted for business class and am really looking forward to the experience. ____________________________________________ "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Emirates sounds great. One question: there is a 90 minute connection at Dubai from the Dulles flight to the flight to Zambia. I am a slow walker. Is that enough time? USMC Retired DSC Life Member SCI Life Member NRA Life Member

90 minutes probably not enough time. The times I went always spent the night or had longer layovers. One time I had 2 scopes in my carry on The police confiscated them. It was at the last random check leaving the airport to the hotel. That was a 6 hour may lay. Also tough when you can’t speak the language.

I have yet to see any comments where someone has not made the flight or their Guns have missed the flight. Folks in Zim haven't reported problems with the Emirates flights so what is the real story? An over abundance of caution? Been a few years since traveling on Emirates, but cant remember previous connection times but nothing was more than 2 hours. Using them this September over Delta.

Bought 2 biz tickets yeaterday from Ft Lauderdale to Joberg with a 3 day break in Dubai outbound. Price was a bit over $4000 each. First class was $9850 each! Ouch. I have flown first on this route before and there is a large difference in overall experience but not $11,000( for 2 tickets) worth of difference. Returning I had a flight choice of a 2’10” layover in Dubai or 6’. I choose the 6’ layover. I simply don’t trust international connections unles I have around 3’ or more. And I don’t mind pitching up in the Dubai biz lounge for a while. Vote Trump- Putin’s best friend… To quote a former AND CURRENT Trumpiteer - DUMP TRUMP

Had a flight that had a 1:30 lay over on inbound flight to SFO from Harare made me nervous but guns made it . In future would plan for 2 plus layover time

Apparently the new configuration of First Class on Emirates is even better. My wife was in one coming from Europe, and she says it was great, quite an improvement on the one before.

Pretty sure you won't have to worry about your guns making the flight, my wife and I have made the flight from DFW to Harare 3 times and DFW to Joberg twice, each time when boarding I was delayed about one minute while the gate agent verified my "special item" had been loaded. Minor inconvenience for a lot of piece of mind. Karl Evans

Thank you. I was not worried but the reassurance of someone that has recently done that route is much appreciated. While it is a longer trip than Delta I have found Emirates business to be so much better and I'm not dealing with JNB. Be through Dubai to Harare 9/16 stopping over on way back with my wife. She is coming in separate and picking her up in Bulawayo. Not worried about her on Emirates and Air 2000 is escorting her in JNB. I'll figure out how to get some upgrades to first and see what Saeed enjoys.

Friend of mine always goes Emirates 1st class and loves it. I flew Qatar business just recently with their new Q-Suite. Best business seat out there, by far.

I am hoping that Qatar’s new suites in biz class will force Emirates and Etihad to do the same down the road. Vote Trump- Putin’s best friend… To quote a former AND CURRENT Trumpiteer - DUMP TRUMP

They are simply fantastic, jdollar. And I've always found Qatar's cabin crew are much more pleasant than Emirates.

The Emirates business seat does not impress me. I have sat in it and it’s 7 across - Too narrow. The tv screen is massive and the food will be excellent. But I will always be riding in the back with the common folk so business class is kind of irrelevant to me. Mike

Something is wrong somewhere! Business Class seats are not good enough for you, so youp9ck economy instead!

No I’m will always fly in the back with the common people. I just don’t think Emirates business seat is anywhere as good as Cathay and I flew Cathay business a lot. Rest of Emirates business might be great - the seat is not. It’s narrow as it’s 2-3-2 seating. Mike

You cannot compare the A380 seats to the B777 business seats. The B777 seats are not any better then any other airlines, except better service. Of course, it may not matter as Emirates has had to ground a bunch of aircraft as they have a pilot shortage because they are not paying market price wages among other problems.

You haven't flown the 777 with the Q suites eh? Missing out BIG TIME.
