If/When you travel through FRA (to Namibia) do you routinely obtain a gun permit in the event you get stuck there? Do bullets (not loaded, just two boxes of bullets) need to go in the same box as my ammo? I will be looking at the airline regs also, but I am sure lots of folks have experience with these questions.

1BigDeer, I do not have an answer to your question. But, I would strongly advice against carrying anything ammo related items, like bullets and such, if you you travelling by air through foreign airports. You really are at the mercy of the particular person checking you at the time, and I have heard it can be very frustrating at times.

Depending on where you leave from, most airlines have baggage agreements with Air Namibia to be able to check your guns all the way to Windhoek so you don't have to re-check them. Not sure about if you get stuck there, but we have not had any clients have a problem with that to date. Even if you have to re-check the bags/guns on the long layover, it's a pretty simple process as long as it's done the same day you arrive. 1 Big Deer I advise my clients to not take any reloading components with them. Bullets only in luggage have been considered as undeclared ammo and caused serious problems for travelers. It's mot worth the risk. Mark MARK H. I regularly take brass and bullets to Namibia, but always put the components in the separate box that houses the ammunition. Regards
