Also seems extraordinary that they found the guy that was a whistleblower dead in a parking lot with a “self inflicted” gunshot wound.

They need to move back to SeaTac and get back to having engineers to managing the company and tell the MBA's to hit the road.

Boeing has shot itself in the foot regarding 737 Max, door falling off without being plugged, etc. They deserve a lot of criticism.

Hydraulic leak, wheel falling off, engine catching on fire, those are airline maintenance and inspection issues. Boeing has just made themselves an easy target and are now getting piled on for airlines not performing proper pm. It is more convenient for airlines to deflect away from their DEI hiring issues and training and onto Boeing.

Earlier today a United 737 had to make an emergency return after takeoff when an hydraulic line blew out on the starboard landing gear. Boing has failed 36 of its last 82 safety and QC audits. Boeing stack is tanking, Airbus SE is doing just fine.

Another emergency landing of a Boeing plane at Los Angeles overnight due to a “mechanical issue”, recent events do not bolster confidence in their product but like others have said, seems that many of the incidents are due to lax maintenance.

Lots of Boeings in the sky.

One certainly hopes that this is not a system-wide failure of safety measures and practices.

Used to be a saying. If it's not Boeing I'm not going. Some people are now missing the first "not" out of that sentence.

I view it as possibly a failure on several levels. First, look to Boeing and its leadership and is there a true expectation of accountability from the bottom ALL the way to the top. Second, what in the hell is the FAA doing ? Are they actually inspecting every aspect of air travel that they are responsible for ? If not, why ? There has become in this country a total lack of accountability in almost every aspect of life, from the government on down and particularly in industry where CEOs and ranking personnel are guaranteed Golden Parachutes even if they fail. Without REAL accountability there will be no correction of mistakes and failures. It has even affected our military. Decades ago there was always accountability and people were held to a high standard. Now the Secretary of defense for all practice purposes goes awol and there is zero accountability. In general we are in a down slide and no longer strive for the best through serious accountability.

DEI is the enemy of meritocracy. Perhaps that is part of this apparent systemic Boeing failure.

Now is probably a good time to buy Boeing stock. They’ve got some problems, but they’re not going anywhere. A few years down the road, those who buy Boeing today may be quite happy.

Boeing was the gold standard. I still hate getting on an Airbus knowing the pilot is flying the damned thing with his or her left hand on a control down by his or her left side. It is not natural. It is akin to the "infamous crime against nature."
In grade school and junior high years in the 1960s we lived in a suburb of Tacoma, Washington. Many of the kids in my Cub Scout pack had dads who were Boeing engineers -- you know, numbers nerds in short-sleeved white shirts, bow ties and slide rules and mechanical pencils in their pocket protectors. I never had a chance with my homely, hand-carved entry in the Pinewood Derby that looked and ran like poop against my fellow Cubs' sleek, Ferrari-like designs their fathers probably tested in Boeing wind tunnels!
I agree. Move them back to Seattle, and bring back Senators Warren Magnuson and Henry "Scoop" Jackson from the grave to make sure they get at least their share of contracts.

Well it looks like some of the MBA’s are hitting the road. I hope they don’t replace them with another MBA. They need PE’s running the show.

I think were ignoring the obvious and I agree with Frostbit, DEI has a lot to do with it but I think while there are mfg problems, the maintenance staffs are not nearly as skilled or as competent as they could or should be. Fking Covid created and environment where our left side allowed people to get by and not work. I bet the pickings are slim when it comes to aircraft maintenance. I'm glad I'm at a place in life where I simply don't have to fly.
