Wild and wacky, but imagine a 36” barrel single shot in a normal size package. Would be a fun project with a Ruger #1 and maybe a 408 Chey-Tac.

boom stickCool. I think some kind of drop in plug and play Ruger#1 stock/trigger actuator would be a neat project.

boom stickHow hard would it be to make a Ruger #1 plug and play version?

NormanConquestWell, a single shot would certainly end the current problems that we left-handers have.
Never mistake motion for action.

it would be STUPID hard to do, and if using an expensive rifle to start, pretty costly
if you are stuck on this, a #3 would be a better starting point, same action, cheaper platform
and starting with an HR break action would be a way to start ..
me? nah, bro, i want NOTHING to do with this one ..
Tyler makes a bullpup platform for m700, and it's not exactly a simple project

butchlocmany moons ago i did - used an old mauser action i had laying around - did it in 22/250 with the idea it would be a great truck gun - wasn't - to clumsy to load and reload

twobobbwanaI'd get a look at a Remington XP100 - the triggers system - before I put a dollar into it.
I think the "devil in the detail" would be getting a decent trigger system/trigger pull on it.

LongDistanceOperatorHere’s a single shot Mauser bullpup, ready to go.
https://www.gunsinternational....rt_row=1&the_order=6If it were less expensive, I’d buy it just to set it free from that hideous stock. That poor Mauser never hurt anybody.

xausaOne of the justifications for the big Mauser thumb cut is that it diverts gas from a ruptured cartridge case and keeps it from the shooter's face. With this arrangement you would get it in the ear or the back of the neck, depending on how much of a stock crawler you were. I think an FN with a solid left side receiver would have been a much better choice. As bull pups go, I don't have a problem with that stock.
If I recall correctly, my friend John Buhmiller used a rifle like that to win a 1000 yard match back in the '30's. He wanted the advantage of a longer barrel without having a longer over all length. This was, of course, before John's African hunting days.

Setting off a .50 BMG right under my favourite face in a homemade rifle? Hmmm, let me see.....
Oh, wait - I've got something I need to do first.
The headstone's on order....
Nor will I pay someone else three grand to build an ugly pink rifle to do it for me!

boom stick http://www.longrifles-pr.com/underhammer.shtmlNow what about a muzzle loader under hammer bull pup? The simple design would be easy to convert to a short over length but long barrel hunter. You only need one shot for a primitive hunt, so this is an ideal purpose for this rifle form factor.
The Hawken Rifle kit would be an easy conversion as well.

boom stickPrairie river arms made some ugly bull pup muzzle loaders way back. Here is an example of an ugly one
I think the under hammer design might be the best for this application.

boom stickThe simplicity of the design is a thing of beauty and could be convert back to its original quite easily. This is my favorite one below.
