OK, seeing this lovely little rifle inspired me. This weekend is taxfree for sporting equipment in Louisiana so I went out and bought a CZ 455. It is a very nice little .22 but a few things have changed from the BRNO. It now has a plastic magazine (ugghh), does not have iron sights, and the barrel is made to be easily removed and replaced with a .22mag or .17 barrel. I don't think I'll be needing the switch barrel but I do miss iron sights and The plastic magazine is leaving as soon as I can find a replacement. It is otherwise a very nice rifle, and, once upon a time I'd have been satisfied. However, after seeing the reason for this thread I really think I'd like to make some changes. New trigger guard If Mr Wiebe makes them or replace the guard with a shotgun style guard. A mannlicher stock would fit the 20" barrel perfectly and I'd have to do something about sights. I suspect this will be my next victim, err project, unless I stumble on a good Low wall Winchester first Jerry Liles.

Butch thanks for posting the photos, that'a a nice looking Brno #1. Howard, if you want original #1 bottom metal I have seen some new ones on Gunbroker. Duane I like the idea of the magazine release in the trigger bow, another idea is like in the photo below.

I spent quite a bit of time fondling a sweet custom rimfire Dean Zollinger did the metal work on. The magazine and floorplate were like previously mentioned - where you have to open the floorplate to access the magazine. The workmanship was incredible and the look was indeed beautiful and clean. But it was a royal P.I.T.A. to open the floorplate access the magazine. I have a Win 52 I am turning into a custom mini express rifle and the combination convinced me to go with bottom metal that allows easy access to the magazine. If the rifle is meant to be a safe queen then the floorplate does look really nice. But if you plan on ever taking the rifle to the field and shooting it the flooplate is a massive incumberance. Here is a link to the Zollinger rifle I mentioned. http://forums.accuratereloadin...461038061#1461038061 William Berger True courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway. - John Wayne The courageous may not live forever, but the timid do not live at all.
