I thought I'd share some pictures of the rifle I just recieved,a custom 1937 M70 7x57. Once it was finished many years ago it sat in a safe til now.I have yet to be able to find out who did the work. Yes, it will be going hunting. Thanks in advance to Forrest for posting the pics for me.

I'd like to see side views taken at right angles to the bore line. There is a Bob Owens look to the stock partciularly in the cheekpiece profile.

What a treasure you have to introduce to the great outdoors. Stunning wood, on a classic action in the classic chambering. Good hunting to you both.

Is the safety bespoke ? In my limited knowledge of customs I haven't seen anything like that before.

I think the safety is a Model 70 Pre-War unit.

Beautiful rifle. I'd love to know who did the work.

I talked to Gary Goudy today, he's the man deserving the credit, sounds like it was built in the 70's, Cas is right, it's a pre war safety .
Thanks for the kind words guys, I did spend a good part of the day just looking at the thing!
It's first range day is coming soon.

I spoke with the seller when I was considering buying it. The rifle was built by Bob Emmons. An early model 70 reworked but with factory barrel, etc.

Prewar 70, the Bob Emmons rifle he had was a .375, another beauty for sure but my funds were tapped.

Worry not, I was rather careful with both the chisel and the rifle.
