That's great Duane. Lovely rifle.

Takedown reminds me of the original H&H method.

How do you adjust for wear?

How does a takedown play out in Africa - I have traveled with a long case, is it just handier to move around?

That's pretty cool!

Do the two front lateral screws secure the front recoil lug?

Would you mind showing a little more detail on your take-down hardware? I am always intrigued too see the different options. I own one of your 500 jeffery take-downs and this system looks a lot different.

Thanks

This system is more or less "standard" and was used at client's' request., Would be happy to show more photos, but rifle id packed up and locked ready for Fed Ex pickup

Thanks

If the 'provision' isn't proprietary, I'd like to hear more about it as well, simply out of curiosity. Shim(s) at the barrel face seat
and if necessary, under the plate of the forearm perhaps? No matter, as usual another finely proportioned beauty.

Ha! No secret...the way any wear is taken up is simply turning in the barrel tighter, then leveling the sights with the receiver bridge. The rear sight is also the fore end hanger so that automatically brings the fore end into battery. Never thought to describe that fully...thanks for asking

You're welcome. Some things just seem so simple (not easy) to achieve when one is pointed in the correct direction. Seems like several extra hours were very well spent. Genius from my angle. I'd imagine close tolerances are mandatory here. Nice. Thanks for the explanation.

Ditto
Understated elegance and beauty in the function. Pure taste. That wood is gorgeous and not overly figured.

Everyone take note of this; the front scope mount is mounted on the BARREl; not the receiver ring.

Try Lee Le Bas in Minden NV, otherwise from Recknagel Note that these need some pretty intensive fitting

A nicely executed rifle...
I am a big fan of takedowns...
Paired with 300 H&H would make it even more desirable Wink

I've done that a couple times. The end result is two scopes, two barrels ands two fore ends.

If stuffed into one case, you have a darn heavy and cumbersome piece of luggage.

I try to discourage such a project for those reasons...but...you know the rule..if a man wants a blue suit , you turn on the blue lights

Very nicely done.

The mention of thread wear - what is recommended to be used on threads of takedowns to prevent wear if anything?

Some high grade specialty greases with additives supposedly 'build' metal. I've religiously used such a grease for near on 35 years on the hinge pin and other rubbing parts of my Miroku O/U shotgun and it is still as tight as the day it was new despite being used extensively for waterfowl shooting and competitive clay target shooting.
Obviously you would not want any grease left to pick up dust and dirt and act as a grinding paste hence I have been fastidious in cleaning the grease off and reapplying with new after every hunt.

Have to admit that I've not run across such a grease..then again, I'm sometimes the last to hear about it. Can you elaborate?

Why are there two scopes? They both look to be low power DG dangerous game scopes. I love this rifle, and if it were mine I would have on low power and and one mid.

thanks Duane, I had somehow lost mr Bas address.

He told me this spring, $400 for the claw mounts, and $400 to fit. He also suggested the Leupold 2-7X-33 if I wanted an American scope.
