Well, here is my reward for some scholarships. It shoots pretty darn well, surprising since I'm pulling the trigger! With 100 grains Retumbo I'm getting 2975 fps with a 300 grain SMK. Can't wait to get my hands on some Bergers! Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Not surprising at all from what I've read. Looks great. Can you post details of the build please? Cheers, Chris DRSS

Action-Lawton 7500, 40 MOA base, dual port Barrel-32" Broughton, fluted Brake-SSG "Xtreme" Stock-Mcree Precision Trigger-Jewell 1.5oz-1.5lb Barreled action coated black The scope is a Sightron 6-24x50, has 100 moa of adjustment, and tracks perfect! Really good glass as well, compares to NXS I'd say, I've compared my buddy's and my glass seemed to have more "glare" off the eyepiece if the sun was behind me, but the glass also seemed brighter. So a slight trade-off there. Other than that, it was less than $700 and is a heck of a steal! Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Tyler, thats a great looking rifle ! Have you tried US 869 powder ?....that works best in mine with a 300 SMK. I'm getting about 3065 fps with 110 gr., and case life is excellent...

I haven't tried US869, for economical reasons I chose Retumbo so I can use it in the 338 and my 6mm Ackley with 115 DTACS and only but 8 lb jugs to save on cost! Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

Great looking Rifle. Not your norm for AUXVASSE! Talking and sharing with the new generation of shooters like you helps restore faith in the future generations. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Nice rifle,Tyler! What kind of groups do you get?

Try the 300 scenars they are king in .338 but you will probably have to back your max load down 2-5 grains they seem to generate more pressure than the smk's, Scenars are also a little more available then the bergers (I hope they come out soon I would like to try them) also is 100grains ret. your max load, I can get about 94gr in a std lapua but that could result in a sticky bolt at lower altitude wouldnt mind trying the IMP. rel 25 seems to work well with 300grain Scenars, but retumbo is my go to powder for 338l nothing else has performed as well on many different rifles. keep us posted on groups or other info. great rifle

I haven't shot for groups a whole lot, but when I have, I got about 2.5 inches at 750 yards, and at 1k I put 7 consecutive shots in 6 inches. I worked up to 103 grains Retumbo and that still wasn't max, but 100 grains shot the best at 300 yards. My first two shots with 100 grains were virtually same hole, then I screwed it up. Scenars just cost too much for me. I'm a broke highschooler The BC gain just isn't a lot for the cost. The Bergers will be worth it though! Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! nice rifle, congratulations on the Scolarships.

yeah they are about double in $$ BC gains not whats great about them even though it is big, it the uniformity of the OGIVE its dead on The smk are so far off. smk are still accurate and i use them a lot but length of the bullet is way off, hollow points are nasty, and ogive is way off, even weight is off a lot more then the scenars, Iam afraid the ogive on the bergers will be about the same as the smk but i would love to have some. shoot what you can afford if your shooting 6" at 1000 it doesnt get much better especialy since the rifle is new and your still getting use to it and working up loads stick with what your doing and you will probably end up shooting 4" at 1000 soon enough

If you can shoot 4in at 1k then you need to compete!!! You will win 90% of your matches and be in the HOF in just a couple of years!!!

This was with no wind though, I couldn't do it on demand. I've had plenty of good groups at 1k, when but when the wind picks up I'm not so hot. However I am going to shoot some F-Class this summer to help that! Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! About 10-25 fps, I weigh each charge pretty carefully, but neck tension isn't perfect for some reason on every case. Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

Nice rig Tyler. I'm sure your Pop was proud as a peacock to have met his end of the bargain. I've drank the Sightron SIII koolaide myself lately - got a 2nd hand 8 - 32 and liked it so much I've ordered another and a 10 - 50 x 60 to boot. The 8-32s will go on my varmint guns. The big boy is for a 6 x 47L build I'm doing on a pierce action.

I would like to acquire the 10-50x eventually as well, plenty of elevation for 1k, and plenty of magnification and then some! Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.
