After reading forums like this, it makes me even happier to know that I can do business with Jim Kobe with a phone call and a follow up Email, and know the he is a man of his word. Price and delivery time, unless something beyond his control occurs.

Not saying anything about others, but I have experience with Mr Kobe.

Idaho Sharpshooter - Like you I have had nothing but good experiences with dealing with Clayton Nelson plus the fact I have known him for over 60 years - so what exactly does this prove. I commented on this because I believed a friend was being put upon. The initial question was asking for contact information but left little to the imagination where if he had stated as he later did this was for correction of an OLD problem FOR FREE it would have been an entirely different slant put on it. The person that was quite vitriolic in his comments was about one occurrance that happened over 40 years ago. I can remember that far back but it is with difficulty. I can truthfully say I don't personally know a single person who has commented on this except the one person who has not - my friend Clayton Nelson

There simply is a faction that just can't resist being gossiping, back stabbing, old women.

Never seems to change. They run to a public forum like a 3rd grader runs to his teacher..

Maybe time to let it go:... allow them to drown in their own excrement.

Duane, you freely state your own negative opinion of a rifle maker if the rifle they produce doesn't meet your standard but defend a maker of a rifle built to a spec you approve of. You're in the same pot as those you're critical of, just a different hunk of meat in the same stew....

The truth of the matter is people share their experiences good or bad, it doesn't matter if it's 1970 at a gun show or 2014 on a website. Nothing has changed except in today's world what is shared happens on a much larger scale.

Zimbabwe, your ASSumptions put you in with some great company. I don't care if it was free, a dime or a dollar He made the offer. A couple of months turned into years and I terminated. When someone says your package will be shipped the next day and I will email tracking info, I take them for their word. When said package does not appear for several weeks I get itchy. When I call to find out what's up and I get a message that a long standing ph # has been disconnected and no longer in service I get jumpy and get in my car and drive down there to get my stuff only to find out it had been shipped the previous day. I do believe Mr. Nelson was surprised to see me standing at the front door. When asked why I wasn't contacted he said the phones were out. How long? Who knows but certainly not 3 weeks. When his wife stated "Well we didn't have your email" I had to inform her that I had indeed given Clayton all of my contact info just 3 weeks prior. In addition to all the calls I had made in the preceding years(majority me to him BTW), the unanswered emails I had sent- not a single one answered.
Now I like Clayton and have never had a harsh word with him. But if you cannot perform the work or issues arise- communicate and do not string it along. Communication these days is a marvelous thing. You can take it with you. You can do it in multiple formats. You can store contact numbers. I think some of these devices will even dial it for you. The energy required to do so would not warm a puddle of spit! Even Dick Tracy would be in awe. If you want to help your friend I would suggest you counsel him on the art of timely and open communication. I do believe his intentions are good but he may just have to learn how to say no to some projects so he can finish what's on the bench.

I took your Disney comment as to say the rifle was "Mickey Mouse". Not a term of endearment. Regardless the meat of this thread was more about business practices, yours has never been questioned to my knowledge, why you feel the need to defend others with long proven track record's of poor business performance is your own choice, but you shouldn't be surprised when you get resistance to your statements.

None of this new and whoever mentioned consumer beware this is how the business works I would have to disagree. I have had a few bad experiences but mostly good. A good part of the reason for that is internet sites and feedback. I've never had a bad experience from folks I've dealt with that I became aware of through AR, I already had a good idea of how they conduct their business.

If you are trying to equate "Rembrandt vs Disney" as disapproval..you're pisssing up a drain pipe .

tu2

Sometimes it better to be critized by a wise/skilled than be praised by a fool/bubba-gump.
