Lee Enfields?

GAHUNTERLee Enfields?
Anybody got a lead on any Enfields being sold by the big importers? Seems like the supply has pretty much dried up lately.
I'm particularly interested in getting a good No. 1, Mk 3. I've got a good No. 4 already.
Of course, when I was a kid, every red neck in
Georgia, it seems like, laid down the $19.95 in order to buy one from Western Auto. You always hear about the .30-.30 being the caliber that historically killed the most deer. However, in Georgia at least, from 1950 to 1970, I'll bet the .303 gave the venerable .30 a run for its money.

budman461philbilly,
amongst a large, eclectic collection of milsurps i possess two no. 4 enfields's, (one an ftr) and a 7.62x51 nato, ishapore 2A1. except for the magazine profile, it's virtually indistinguishable from a no. 1 mk III.
fwiw, i think the 2A1 is a damn fine rifle. india stored mine with a liberal coating of black paint instead of cosmoline, making it a pita to clean up...paint is obviously cheaper than cosmo...but when i had i cleaned up, i couldn't be happier with the result.

TrapperPI have one I would sell - it is either a 1913 or 1915 Enfield, cannot distinguish for sure, FTR 1953 and in excellent condition, nice wood - I don't think this rifle was ever issued. Also have the bayonet, long one, still blued and never sharpened. Rifle also has the correct web sling. PM me if interested and I will try and get some photos to you.
And BTW, it ain't cheap.
Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!!

Yes. Rubbish. Useless. Worthless. Dangerous even. Fall apart as soon as looked at. Made from melted down worn-out railway lines. And the wood? I've seen stronger on matches. These guns probably were more lethal to their own side than the enemy. An expert opinion is always helpful.

enfieldsparesHere's a chromed No.5 at the same site
for $375 opening bid. No5? Ha!
Only in the seller's dreams! A fake. Fore-end is wrong, rear sight is wrong, bayonet lug is wrong, lack of upper hand guard wood is wrong, rifle is wrong. And no picture of rear of butt. So I expect that is wrong too.
That I can agree is junk!
Here is what it should look like.

cz75tacThat chromed "jungle carbine" is a Gibbs Rifle Co. Conversion of a #4 into a cloned #5. Some shot well, but I've seen them with chambers pitted so bad that cases stuck inside when the fireformed in to the pits.
Check Joe Salter's site. He brings nice Enfields across from Canada all the time.

tnekkccIn 1962 at Bill and Ard's sporting goods it was explained to me how much extra a jungle carbine is worth.
What a cottage industry, making jungle carbines has been for 47 years.
Sprinfield Sporters had Enfields stacked like chord wood until 5 years ago when they went under and Century bought all the inventory and is selling it for twice what Springfield Sporters wanted for them in the old catalog.
