Well here is my two cents, every animal I shot in Canada came home with me. Except a mountain caribou I killed in the N.W.T. and I packed as much meat as my duffle and pack would carry. I have meet alot of great people while visiting and still stay in contact with a number of them and consider them friends. Country singer Paul Brandt's song Alberta Bound makes me yearn to come back to your great country. No I am not a rich by no means but a timber cutter from Ohio that works as hard as any cutter in B.C. I try and put myself in Deweys shoes and can understand how he feels but please don't put us all in the same category , you may be from Canada Dewey but please don't put a fence between us. Have a great week Bill

The US signed a TREATY with Canada and, when the commission that arbitrates disputes of said treaty rendered decisions against the American position and in favour of Canada, these ALLIES and FRIENDS, BROKE THEIR WORD and did as they pleased...and screw Canada. This appalling treatment of a nation who has shared it's resource wealth with America, is simply another in a long parade of such injustices, slights and deliberate attempts to dominate and steal even more Canadian resources. The response to such Yankee "imperialism" by most Canadians is the emergence of the most severe loathing of America/Americans I can remember in my lifetime. The forest industry here, is devastated and this is due to Yankee duplicity and Yankee greed. So, why allow these same "friends" to come and enjoy our wilderness, wildlife, fish or even open spaces. The situation concerning aborigines is a different issue and introducing it into this discussion will simply lead to a typical "well, the Indians do it, so, let's allow the Yanks a share, too". THAT is the OLD BC-Canadian attitude, but, it is gone and will not return WE supply the majority of US OIL and in the most secure fashion, under NAFTA and this is devastating the fifth largest river system on Earth. We could and should keep this oil for ourselves and it would enable us to out-compete the other trading-manufacturing nations and make us a much stronger entity, in political and military terms. US NEEDS oil, well, drill in your own country and ruin your landscape and aquifers. Of course, the Yanks want our hydro-power and our water, as well. To me, we can either knock heads with them and keep what is ours, or, as some gutless politicians, big business crooks and even mislead Canucks are doing now, give in, give up and become their serfs....... It's time to turn off the taps, light switches, oil pumps and ban hunting and fishing by them and become free of "Uncle", the sooner the better.

This is yet another attempt by a person with no desire to hunt in B.C. to co-opt a discussion about Canadian hunting with irrelevant asides. It is a crude and obvious ploy by a foreigner who simply cannot understand that his ilk are not wanted in many parts of the world and Canada is one. There is NO question, that there are MANY environmental issues that are bilateral between Canada and the U.S.A., urban garbage disposal being an inportant one. However, it is YOUR governments that make these disposal contracts with a few Canadian cities and towns....sound familiar? WHAT action to change this have YOU taken in the past six months? I would bet that you have done nothing other than whine and cavil in your local tavern, much as you do here. The "journalist" who published the doggerel derived from Canada's national anthem is SO typically Yankee and his vulgarity demonstrates, again, WHY Americans are hated all over the world, not that most deserve it. I could post a nasty little version of "The Star Spangled Banner" here, but, that is rather like slagging a poster's family and upbringing, something simply not done in Canadian culture....except by guttersnipes and foreign trash. Well, this has been an enjoyable little donnybrook, as always, and very relaxing on a weekend while I was busy processing rifle brass for reloads. But, I now have to cut and stack more firewood for this coming winter as I have much to do before heading to northern B.C. for my buddy's goat draw and then to the Kootenays for his elk draw.

Well I thought you said you had a sense of humor ,but I guess my first impression of you last year was correct, you ARE simply another asshole to be ignored. You think everybody else is out to steal YOUR resources and they arent even yours! They belong to the crown, just like the timber the crown sells at a reduced price! They can sell all the resources they want,at whatever price they want,to whoever they want, when they want, and you are lucky to get a tag every ten years ,and somehow its not their fault, its the people with the money to buy the tags! I understand the concerns of Dewey and the other Canadians. We have had some of the same problems here in Alaska for the same reasons. For example 75% of the sheep harvest has been by non residents. I'm sure that the brown bear harvest is right up there as well. The defferance is that for one I'm not blaming anyone else but our own goverment for that. And secondly we have done things through our game board to resolve this problem. Our game management unit 13 has been put on a drawing permit and only about 20% of the permits now go to nonresident's. It seem's to me that this is the type of measures B.C. should be takeing rather than an all out ban of non resident hunter's. I have done a lot of hunting in the Southeast part of the us. Back in the 80's and 90's when I did most of my hunting there, the states of Georgia, Florida and Alabama had a little war of nonresident license fees. My understanding was that it all started with Georgia charging double the normal lic fee to residents of boardering states. Of course the boardering states followed suit and doubled license fee to residents of Georgia. I'm sure you all see where I'm going with this analagy. As far as abusive guides are concerned There are few issues that trip my trigger worse than a guide who has the PRIVLEDGE of useing public resources for commercial purpposes and then being propriatory about " his area" and causing grief for another hunter who also has a leagle right to be there. Those guys should be hung up by there nuts. I am a guide and I don't like these guys repersenting my industrie like that wether it be in AK or B.C.. I agree B.C.'s game should be for their residents just as Alaska's game should be for Alaskan's I do think there should be some provition for nonresident hunting. If B.C. let that get out of controll then it is up to BC. to fix it. One last food for thought and this go'es out to cmfic1. Did'nt you take the bear on your avatar in Alaska? AKshooter posted: ...If BC let that get out of control, then it is up to BC to fix it... WOW and WOW again, FINALLY, somebody gets it!!! It IS out of control, we NEED to fix it and the ONLY way we can break the entrenched power and influence of the GOs, is to totally eliminate their financial base. When THAT happens, and it WILL, no matter WHAT it takes, THEN, the GOS will go into other businesses and WE can have OUR resources for ourselves. As long as the GOABC can suck $$$$ out of rich or even hardworking Yankee "hunters", they can and WILL lobby against resident's rights and are doing exactly this as we speak. Americans can hunt in THEIR country, we can hunt in OUR country and everyone can enjoy their own resource wealth and, hopefully, conserve it. Of course, there will be some economic adjustments to be made by a tiny number of people now employed in the "trophy" industry, however, they can find other employment. Many had to do so when the U.S.A. broke their word on the "Softwood" agreement.....life just is like that, ya gotta be adaptable and ready to move on.....especially when most guides seem to be young Albertans, who can return to the "oil patch". Forget the sheep, the Grizzly and all of the other B.C. game you wish to kill as we will ban US hunting here in roughly 5-6 years. Then, it's fresh water fishing, backcountry skiing, climbing, and so forth...we need to keep BC for BCers plus other Canucks.

We are developing some major Asian markets for forest products at present and when we ban raw log exports to WA mills, soon, this will curtail their feed stock and make our lumber more competitive. Add that to the ending of secure oil supplies to the USA and banning all hydro exports and we will be more competitive and be able to undercut Yankee lumber by subsidizing OUR mills with OUR cheap oil and hydro. This has never been politically possible, here, but, the "Dubya" administration was/is truely hated in Canada, far more than "Tricky Dicky" and the hour is at hand, people are finally starting to wake up and SEE how we need to disengage from "Uncle" and stop giving our resources away to those who break their given word in the treaties they negotiate with us. The simple facts are that the huge demographic changes here, where MOST immigration is from countries very hostile to America, is helping hardline Canadian-British Commonwealth people like me to realize our most cherished lifelong dream of staying free of the "Eagle's" clutches......gawd, that feels so wonderful Gets COLD in Minnesota, eh, you will probably have to burn your lumber for warnth when our oil stops flowing south..or, freeze in the dark, I am fine with either option.........

Isnt that why we imposed a tax on your "softwood" imports before?Your government was subsidizing the industry ? Only you got greedy, and messed up the deal? OK Yankee Scum. I got an Idea here. Close the Border, Put a Terriff on all the Canadians flocking to the US for ouor services, Put all the Canadians in a train THAT CURRENTLY Reside here for their snowbird winters and send them back to their country so they can support their own ecomony. Stop all hunting in BC and keep the money in the States. I like that Idea. People like Dewey want us to stop coming to BC so lets stop. Stop supporting their economy and shut them off from us. God I hate people like him. Ignorance is bliss and Jealousy is a nasty emotion. Dewey is a fool who cannot see beyond his own agenda and means. I hope all not just us Yankee Scum stop pursuing hunting in BC or Canada. We have great Big Game hunting in the States and Alaska and I would much rather see the Hunters $$$ stay in the states where it belongs. It is time for the US to stop supporting all these forieng ecomonies and start supporting the American people and its own economy. Oh don't forget to register your firearms Dewball. See in America the reason the Japanese never tried to invade in WW2 was because they knew that americans had the Right to Keep and Bear arms and that right is in our Constitution. Does Canada even have one of those ???? PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN Doug Klunder

MY, such passion, such patriotism, how very thrilling!!!! First of all, Goofball, take your hatred and shove it where you brain resides, far up your butt! Do you think that I CARE about your neurotic emotions concerning me or Canada, not fucking likely. Now, the Japs DID invade in WWII, some 18,000 Yank and 5500 Canadian soldiers went to kick them out of the Aleutians, but, they had already left...smart move as they would have been exterminated as they were on the one island where they DID decide to fight...and only about 25 survived. Second, while this has zippola to do with firearms laws, may I remind you that, despite your wonderful Second Amendment, the FACT is that MANY U.S. jurisdictions BAN many firearms, in total contradiction to that decree....some place called Washingon, D.C...... So, I gotta tell ya, the hasty comments you made are as full of poo-poo as your remarks about Canada are ignorant. I AGREE and have SAID that Americans SHOULD hunt, etc., in THEIR country and leave others alone. Oh, yeah, my BC-born aunt Anne, died very young from TB she contacted while an RN in Sitka,AK; my family members pioneered up there as well as in the Yukon....maybe I should have "rights" to hunt YOUR game?????? Cheer up, your hangover will go away!

That is what I get for agreeing with you. I think I did and now you are dropping F Bombs to debate the point. You are a fool and an ignorant one at that. I am sure that the Majority of Canadians do not feel the same as you as if the did they would stop marketing their hunting opportunities here in the states and every where else. Before, you presume to make invidious comments on my usage and supposed ignorance, may I suggest you re-read YOUR posts? You cannot seem to spell, know nothing about the WWII situation you chose to use as a method of attacking my country and me and still rave on,so ...get a life.... As to 05:00, yeppers, I DO get up VERY early, many years of bush work made me used to this and I don't require much sleep as I am so busy. My studies, guns, purebred Rottweilers and conservation activities as well as protecting my homeland from exploitation by Americans, like you, who know nothing about Canada, keep my time filled and my mind active. The majority of Canadians DO feel exactly as I do about these issues and are NOT jealous of you Yankees; we merely find you boastful, greedy foreigners and we do not want you here, much like Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela, etc. Got a very successful, happy and fulfilling life, but, thanks for your kind concern! Hopefully, your obvious psychological "issues" can be ameliorated with appropriate "meds", then, you may enjoy life as much as I do!

CHB, I did not participate in L.E.H.,so, your supposition is wrong. I also do not and will never sell out my country and attack fellow Canadians who are trying to save what we have left. I "could" quote your post concerning the alleged ...natives...and how changes need to be made; however, I think that the point I wanted to make and separate from the thread on the helicopter tragedy has been thoroughly presented, thrashed out and a most stimulating series of posts and highly entertaining insults have been made. So, we can move on to hunting and how I am going to shoot a Moose next to your house that all your clients will be totally awestruck over and I will even share the meat with you as a bull Moose is far too much for my "C.E.O." and I, there is still meat from 2006, 2007 and last year in my freezer...see, I am not such a bad old baztard, just kinda ornery!

Oh, really, how quaint. WHY would we BCers want to "negotiate" with you Yankees, after you BROKE YOUR WORD on the "softwood" agreement, more than once? Frankly, I spit on your lack of integrity, your warmongering governments and your attacks upon other nations.....who, so often humble your pompous leaders by kicking your azzes out of their countries! As for your lack of ...care...about how I feel, fine, but, you sure get worked up about something you profess not to be concerned about, eh? Again, "meds" can really help. Vancouver, B.C. is a ...little hole in the wall..., well, THAT alone demonstrates exactly what an ignorant, loutish, rednecked peckerwood you are; this is usually ranked as THE MOST livable city on Earth, you pizzant. jb, you are a common liar as you demonstrate by your assertions that I made comments that I certainly did not make as my posts are made in support of Canadian equality and in defenCe of our sovereignity. Typical of your type of American, as your bloodsoaked history with the aborigines in your country has shown. You tell me, that I am to be ...ignored..., but, you keep on with your lies, weird comments and completely unbalanced rhetoric....perhaps, "meds" would assist you, as well? BTW, if you check the 2nd. Ed. Oxford Dictionary Thesaurus, Pub. 2001, Page 748, you WILL FIND that my spelling is as precise and correct as ever. We spell in the traditional ENGLISH manner in Canada and ignore the vulgar Yankee misspelling of The Queen's English. Once again, you dolt, you are not only wrong, you are a typical Yankee of exactly the sort that has motivated we Canucks to want you out of our country. Can ANYONE really BE as ignorant as you are?

So, this thread is degenerating into a "slagfest" between a couple of Yankees and I and that is not really what I intended when I started it. I think that enough has been posted concerning this and I must go and finish my article for submission to various B.C. newspapers which is one more step toward protecting B.C. hunting from expoitation by commercial interests. I would request that the moderator of this section of AR, now "lock" this thread as more of this will not benefit anyone. I appreciate all posts here, even those I do not agree with and am glad that hunting is getting underway so that we will all have lots of meat and good times.
