And then you have people like you and volta who add absolutely nothing to any forum. Careful about generalizing.......it can bite you in the ass when you're as uninformed as you appear to be.

Hey, bud, take it easy, Iowanic is a nice guy and seems more into keeping us all calm than anything else. You must be having one shitty day, today, hope things are better tomorrow.

Nah....actually it's been quite a good day.....Yankees are roughing up the Sox and I'm headed out at 0445 for the deer stand.

He may be a nice guy but that comment served no purpose......nor do any of ours, arguably. Wink

Okay. I do not know what can be added to this type of discussion. One person states their case as that of the majority of people in BC. He seems to have an anti USA leaning and implies that he is going to harass US hunters if he has an opportunity. Others reply with questions about his facts and some reply with invitations to "meet". This is all very silly behavior. We should all,s hunters, act like gentlemen and support each other. And one thing that serves no purpose is to argue with someone who so irrationally hates.

Hey volta.....Why don't you provide your location so we have a frame of reference? A state or perhaps a province would be fine.

And it does, in fact, serve a purpose. Sure we like to throw a verbal jab or two, but I'd probably hunt or have a coffee with just about any one of these guys......except a few on the ARPF who never contribute to a hunting-related topic.

You're not a fan of the "obama apology tour" per chance, are you?

It may come as a bit of a shock to many here, but, after a lot of thought, I have decided that perhaps Bruce was correct in his initial post on this thread and banning foreign hunting here may not be in BC's best interests. I will not pursue this issue further here in B.C. as there are greater threats to our hunting looming on the horizon...and anti-hunter immigrant foriegn leftist-liberals involved in "eco-tourism" are now trying to end Grizzly hunting...and then it wil be some other "icon of the wilderness"......never fails.

For anyone concerned, try to find a copy of today's "Province" newspaper from Vancouver, B.C. and read the article on Grizzlies. You may be able to find this on-line, but, my meager computer skills do not allow me to assist with that.

GOs, especially the foreign pricks like "Poacher" Bryan Martin, REALLY pizz me off...but, foreigners trying to stop BC hunting make me simply furious and I intend to do a "guest editorial" for my hometown paper making this VERY clear.....limey dorks.

I suggest that anyone concerned write letters to the "Province" and the "Nelson Daily News" from Nelson, BC, on this issue. The foreign prick who is making BIG bux from BC bears and his limey pals are getting petitions signed in various nations worldwide...including bastions of environmental conciousness such as China.........no hypocrisy there, now, is there.......

I will start another thread on this issue in a week or two when I have more facts and confer with our wise, learned and cheerful moderator, "Canuck", as to his thoughts on how to proceed. I have to get a new roof on this place this week before the BC "monsoon" season starts.

I would add, I would not post here on ANY issue if I did not learn and benefit from doing so and the jabs are all part of the fun, just like a bunch of guys having a few brewskis on a Sat. afternoon, before the "boss" makes you clean the freakin' gutters the next day.

I wish you all the luck.I've been sticking my nose in your business some, and I can tell you,I would be pissed ,too.
I think you are on the right track, though.I think if someone can pay $40,000 to hunt a sheep that is a good deal for BC.The problem is ,the money should be going to,and staying in BC,your resources should belong to the people of BC ,not to a select few.
And the road closures are complete bullshit.Somebodies head should roll for that.Like I've said before,I think some past government officials got there palms crossed to allow the things to be the way they are.

Dewey, feel free to start the new topic when you get the chance. I agree entirely that the biggest threat to our hunting heritage hear are foriegn "environmental" interests.

I am sitting in the airport in SLC and won't be back online for a few weeks. My learned colleagues will likely be checking in on you guys periodically. Smiler

Take care folks,
Canuck

I knew you would come around, Dewey, take the fight to the antis as they seem to have the backing with numbers and cash. Let me know if there is something I can do.

What a nice note Dewey!

I've only casually followed this thread since I rarely hunt Canada and after all, it is September in Alaska!

Having said that, Dewey I hope you and the rest of your friends and neighbors continue to allow non resident tourist hunters in your country. Almost unanimously we very much enjoy our vacations there and I certainly have appreciated the generosity and hospitality all the Canadians I've ever met display.

Dewey,
You seem to have lost the forest for the trees.
So worried were you about the Americans taking a few sheep that you got an end-run done on you.
Here's a hint: Concentrate on what is of core value to you. That would be you're right to hunt.
Next might be the GO's but, man, you have to work with your gov. on allowing citizens to better finance those things. Ya'll are so taxed that hardly anyone can afford/finance these operations.
You've made comments about locals who do own them but for whatever reason you don't like them. So what? They are locals and they are reinvesting that money into YOUR countries economy.
And I'm surprised that you'd be worried about the Chinese. I always figured the Cans and Aussies were cut from the same cloth. Love their beer and women and worry about the gov. & taxes tomorrow. And no way in hell is anyone, especially one who doesn't speak the language, going to make rules for you.
See you in 2010.

Here is the article Former war correspondent now fighting B.C. grizzly hunt. I read it online today and also was a little pissed. Maybe he should head back to jolly old England for PTSD treatment and leave us alone.

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

Guiding in Canada....are there any reg's regarding training or experience they must have? Or can just anyone show up and and claim to be a guide?

Guess they modified the site since I posted it earlier in the thread:

Try these:

http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/pasb/...cess/game_guide.html

http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/pasb/

There are approximately 245 guide outfitters in British Columbia at present. Each guide outfitter is licenced to guide resident and non-resident hunters in an exclusive guide area with clearly defined and legally described boundaries. The guide areas vary considerably in size and availability of big game species. The guide outfitter licence is issued annually.

The responsibility for issuing guide licences and guiding territory certificates lies with the Regional Fish and Wildlife Managers within the Wildlife Management Regions in the province.
