Boom Stick: I'd choose the .460 Rowland. Heavier bullets at similar speeds. Most of the performance data I've seen has been with 4" barreled Dan Wesson revolvers. The best handgun for Grizzly country? A Marlin Guide Gun in .45-70 or .450 Marlin You've seen the threads. But, if there is a realistic revolver that you can pack in situations like this, I think the .460 Rowland makes as much sense as most. Just a shame that DW is not currently manufacturing the .460, because it shoots .45 ACP, .45 Super, .460 Rowland and the .45 Win. Mag. You may have run across an autoloader that I haven't seen yet. Well, the DW wasn't around for a very long time, Boom Stick. Now that CZ owns DW they don't make any revolvers that don't have .44 Super Mag stamped on the barrel. Yeah they'll tell you that you can use .44 magnum loads, but I'd rather have the standard length frame of the .44, .41 Magnums. If you're interested, you might find a used DW in .460 at gunbroker or one of the other websites. I believe the cartridge was introduced along with the DW M460. There was a good article on Jim Cirillo in Gun World, one of the 2000 issues, I believe, and he covered the revolver, which he had some input on, as well as the various .45 cartridges you could use in it. Pretty potent package for a 4" revolver and if there's any doubt, the .45 Win Mag takes things up a notch or two. "No one told you when to run; you missed the starting gun."

Boomie, I've got one of the .460 Rowlands built up on a modern 1911A1 frame. I has the compensator bbl that came with a kit. Shoots great, although, the .45acp did great too because it was accurized. I've never used a bullet heavier than the .265gr cast semi-wadcutter. The pistol has been used on hogs and deer. My standard bullet has been a hard cast 225gr. .395 Family Member DRSS, po' boy member Political correctness is nothing but liberal enforced censorship

I just picked up a Wilson Hunter in .460 Rowland. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but will soon. I plan to use it on some Texas hogs this year.
