Ordered this one for myself, and I think she is so pretty I needed to show her off.

SIACE EL 45-70, ejectors, weight is 108 oz without scope and rings and 135 oz with scope.

I have two of these left, both are double trigger, ejector 45-70's, one Lusso version and one std. version. I'll have prices, pics and descriptions of these in the next few days.

Very nice looking double. I am glad to see it comes with a scope mount.

I think a 9,3x74R double is a great calibre for North America, but a 45/70 double makes a lot of sense.
It would be nice to be able to walk in most any gun store and buy ammo to fit your double.

The 45/70 is a great caliber for deer, pigs, black bear over bait and even big stuff in the thick.

What is the price on these doubles?

With the exception of the schnabel (I don't like them ,personal view) that is with out a doubt the first double I've seen that meets ALL my criteria for good looks. If I were still in the market I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Ken,

Hmmmm.

Side bolsters, shadow line cheek piece, extended bottom tang, grip cap, nice wood, no over run checkering, great big bore caliber, nice engraving and all at a competitive price.

The competition is in for a rude awakening.

I just might have to pull the trigger on oneSmiler

Lovely! If it balances as good as it looks, you will have a great hunting rifle.

JD,

The rifle at the top of this thread is the top of the line (EL version). Its a box lock with false side plates. Ken can give you the current pricing. In my opinion its hard to come close to these rifles in terms of quality in a Merkel or Chapuis (in the same price range). Siace doubles are a more hand built gun and are hand engraved and not machined engraved.

JD-
The SIACE EL version at the top of the post is a boxlock with sideplates. Current price for the EL is $7500 but is subject to change with the exchange rate with the Euro.

we must all pray that no one buys one of these in 45-70 and downs any of the Big Three in Africa cleanly...this forum is not ready for a jolt like that to their delicate sensibilities...

Surestrike,

Oh, just STOP THAT!! It is a very beautiful DR, and a great caliber. It would be a ton of fun working up a load to regulate it. Buttttttttt...the most wonderful woman in the world just gave the me go-ahead on a CZ 505 Gibbs...decimated the toy budget for the year. I'm going to build a DR over the winter.

Shotgun barrels must be requested from the factory when the gun is ordered and adds 40%. QD mount made by MAK in Germany adds 400euro and includes installation and regulation. You can provide a scope or they can.

I can not say if its safe or not to rechamber the gun, that answer is best left to a professional. But a 7lb 450 would not be fun to shoot, so even if its safe something would still need to be done to add about 2 1/2-3 lb.

would this not be the perfect 9,3x74R at about eight and one half pounds loaded?

Hand goes up: "I know, Teacher, I know!!!" YESSSSSSSSS.

45-90 would max you out.
