If your search, you might find a Pedersoli 45/70 double for $2,500. They are pretty nice rifles, much nicer than the gun in the link.

Doesn't look that well done.

Also looks heavy for what it is.

Like the previous poster said, buy a Baikal if you want a 45/70 DR
which even I think would be better than that.

I have two Remington Spartans. Kinda expected the responses I would get. Especially liked the one about it not being proofed. There is kind of a line between "homemade" and "custom-made" and I think this is on the homemade side.

A better DR? Maybe someday.
