I understand this is a Verney-Carron barreled action.

The exact same rifle as used by Bond in SkyFall can be custom ordered at Anderson Wheeler for approximately £15,500 ($24,500).

Not bad! How much for the Aston?

Just saw the movie....writers did a fantastic job incorporating a Side by Side rifle in the movie....classic...with 007's father's initials. Someone did their homework. Very very nicely done.

I wish he would have fired it will full loads. I can assure you his splits on the targets would not have been the same.

Good film. Nice double. But, SC was the best Bond.

Someday I will understand British gunshops styling themselves as gunmakers.

Also, AW now shows a sidelock on their site. Seems Spanish--Grulla, perhaps?

Several, like David McKay Brown of Scotland, are gunmakers!

I also appreciated the fact that they didn't over emphasize the affects of the Double Rifle. You know nobody flying twenty feet after being shot. Yes taking the Chopper out could have been dramatic.

I am sorry to see Judi Dench calling it in but so have others- Original Q

Though the reference his father's "hunting rifle" could make you think it was just an old 450 BP express, such as were once used for deer stalking, I'm glad Bond did not shoot down any plane with it.

Aviation authorities already regard big-bore rifles with a jaundiced eye and, suspecting John Howard's targeting pump guns was prompted by the dramatic shuck-shucking of film villains, I'd rather not stir them up.

Finally saw this movie last night (I live out of the country and media isn't exactly easy to come by here). I realize it is a ticky tack issue, but given the locale, I would guess bonds father would have had a round action. Still...cool movie. DC is going to give SC a run for his money in the long term.

Sorry, Cal. My vote goes to Daniel Craig, although I'm told that I could be SC's twin!

DC can be the best but he is still very anti gun and no friend of gun owners, hunters and shooters so he loses my vote.

He is happy to make squillions of $$$$
from having guns and shootings in his films
but actively work against gun owners outside
of the film industry.

I guess DC is a true thespian after all.

Still, having seen what happened to a bloke from work who was shot in the shoulder defending an armoured car, DC's comments regarding pistol wounds ring a bell. Hoppalong Cassidy used to get shot in the shoulder every second week but I guess it wasn't with a 357 magSmiler

Gents,
I thought that Judi Dench made a great "M", also, but I understand that she is suffering from severe macular degneration and is unable to perform, or at least will be shortly. Sad, she was a great actress.
