If you order a VC, can you ask that it be regulated to the old standard with Kynoch ammo instead which would regulate around 2000 fps from the same barrel length? Also, can you ask that the rifle be built to a certain weight?
VC makes a 9.3X74 double with a Holland & Holland "filet". Can anyone tell me what that is?
Hi Dave,
Yes, mine regulates right at about 107.0gr of IMR-4831 which gives me 2,150fps on the nose. It was regulated at the factory with Norma PH ammo. I'm not sure if one can specify what velocity they would like for their rifle to be regulated to but I am sure Ken could tell you. I would think if one was ordering a bespoke rifle however, that you could ask for whatever weight and regulation specifics you would like. There is a fellow on here who PMed me that he is having VC build him a bespoke .577 NE. You might ask him, I sent you a PM with his name.
Sorry, I don't know what an H&H filet is.

safari-lawyerThey're not mine, but they are fun to look at. These are from Bill Jones' collection. I'm holding the "famous" 700 that's been featured on Tracks Across Africa.
Who knew there were so many fine rifles in Alabama. YALL probably thought we were all about lever action 30-30s and 12 bores shooting buckshot.
Enjoy.

MikeBurkeThat is a beautiful little rifle.
I have a 450-400 3 1/4" Boswell cica 1905 that is a joy to shoot. I am thinking about leaving my .375 H&H and bringing the Boswell as my "light" (or little) rifle this year. It has no scope but I am confident with it out to 100+ yards. Plus my wife will have her 7 by 57 and she could take the long shots.

Steve AhrenbergThanks Mike,
I'm most likely taking it to CAR next year

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

If you'll turn to the back of a book called "Death By Double Rifle", you can see a proper way of displaying that Charles Osbourne rifle.

Problem with that 450-400, my good man, is that you stand on the wrong side of the stock!

As much as I like doubles, I rarely covet them..... but I do that one.
That'd be the perfect rifle for me!

Everyone of you guys, suck.
Thanks for getting me in trouble with the ol' lady. She caught me looking at "porn" again last night. I heard the feared line of, "why don't you look at me like that?" To which I smarted back with "if you were as useful as some of these pieces of equipment, I might." The doctor said the swelling should go down in a couple of days and that you can hardly notice the lump on the back of my head from the frying pan.
All kidding aside, 1. I love threads like this and 2. the girlfriend said she would rather me have one of these "gorgeous ladies" then a piece of stange. I love this girl for reasons just like that.

Great post, Thanks. My wife doesn't know about most of my really nice stuff. They all sort of get lost in plain sight in the gun safe. When I put my .50BMG in there she noticed that one!!!
