To all my friends on the Accurate Reloading Forum -- I’ve completed my prototype ‘rising bite’ rifle. It’s chambered for the .470 NE and I hope it’s the first of many ‘rising bites.’ I borrowed an original, that Rigby made in 1903, from Dr. Roger Sanger of Monterey, California. It took me the better part of a year to get the dimensions into my CNC machine. I’ve included some pictures of the rifle for your viewing enjoyment. I know that Terry Wieland is very fond of ‘rising bites’ so – if he reads this thread, I’m inviting him to visit my factory in Boron and test fire my new rifle.

BiebsButch, very nice indeed. Is that Doug Turnbull's color case-hardening? Looks like his signature style. You should add a picture of the action locked up, so folks can see how it all joins together.
PS: Terry will absolutely LOVE IT, provided of course he gets to take it home!!!.....BIEBS

J Rigby and T Bissell Rising third bite action was a patented action
by Rigby Bissell and made by Rigby. patent 1141 of 1879.
The "loop" of metal on the end of the barrels is a dead give away
for a Rigby Bissell Rising Third Bite action.
I believe that it became too expensive to produce and Rigby
then made Sidelocks using Webley actions.

Butch SearcyBiebs, The Color casing is done in house. In fact I did this one. I sent a picture to Rusty to post for me showing it in the closed position.
Yes the Rigby engraving is available as well as the shape of the action.
The price of this rifle as shown is $45,000.00, This is the entry level rifle. With the Rigby engraving it is $60,000.00.
This rifle is also available in the snap underlever.

Do not let nay sayers every steer you away. One of these days newbies in the market may be comparing their works to the great Searcy's. Keep at it and one day, your firm may be recognized as the benchmark.

I think the fact that he has just made a Rising Third bite double rifle
has just gone a long way towards that.
That's my HO but making something like that would not be easy and
with the exception of the "New Rigby" in London, why has it taken
so long for someone to do it ?????
