This week, I have been pulling one rifle out of the safe each day and giving each a thorough cleaning. I just spent the better part of two hours cleaning my K-gun. The only trouble with a double is you have to clean twice as many barrels although the left barrel wasn't as bad as the right. To clean the copper, I use Barnes CR-10. Anyone got any better suggestions for a copper cleaner?

The real problem with double rifles is that ;you can never ever have enough

If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem.

Break Free "Bore Cleaning Foam" is the best stuff I have used in my double rifles (450/400, 470 and 500NE). Squirt it in, let it sit 20-30 minutes, and swab it out. I have never needed more than 3 applications per barrel using this method. It works like magic.

The one thing you certainly do not want to do is resort to the old Mercury in the barrels to desolve the copper or lead! Ribs and wedges are in peril! Eeker

Haven't ever tried wipe out. I settled on Barretts Heavy Bore Cleaner. Drinkable, according to them, contains no ammonia and works very well. It's what I use

I have never tried wipe out, but KG 12 is way, way ahead of Barnes copper solvent or Sweets.

Three passes(each followed by a 10 minute interval to let it do its magic, the a dry patch) and all copper is gone.

I highly recommend it!

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

I use Wipeout. Tape the brass ferrules on the
rod. Wrap the patch around a Tipton nylon bore brush. No false readings from the brush or rod.
