What a wonderful rifle! What's she weigh in at and what'd Butch regulate her to for you? Looks like CEB's for the solid, and.....?

I'm waiting for the load data from Butch. She's so well balanced in the hand and comes up quickly. Not sure yet on the weight. I'll let you know when I get more info.

Use Enough; Your DR has very nice wood. I am not familar with Mr. Searcy's rifles, and I have a question as to what is the screw for that is crosses the stock just behind the action? Kindest Regards; Transvaal

Glad to see Butch finally finished your rifle - it is a dandy! Please let us know how it shoots.

Very nice. I had not seen one of Butch's boxlock actions with a Doll's Head. Is that something he is doing on all boxlock actions now or is that an add on? Maybe a screw grip? Mike

Very nice rifle! Question; does the scope change the regulation? USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

Don't know exactly what it is but that's a killer rifle! Please send pics of critters taken in Africa when you get over there. Thanks for sharing and for potentially costing me tons of money!

jorge: Butch regulated it with the scope attached. My 450-400 was regulated with a scope, but I have both the iron sights and RMR set to shoot on it as well. That's the plan with this one too. Mike: The doll's head is an add on and does not come with his standard box lock actions. I believe that this is a Webley screw grip action, as that was the original plan that Butch had for this rifle. Transvaal: I believe that the 'screw' at the back of the action is an attachment of the action to the buttstock. If any of these answers prove to be incorrect when I get more information from Butch I will advise.

I envy you! Of all the double rifles I've owned the one I want more than any other is a S/S 375FL mag with facility for a quick detach scope in the nine pound weight area with scope attached, eight pound bare. I have three 375H&H bolt rifles all in the nine pound weight with scope attached, eight pound bare and they are perfect. ............................................................... ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

Thanks. Is there a big divergence in regulation between shooting it scope or unscoped? How about yours, Oz? USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

Jorge: With the Searcy 450-400 I have found little divergence in using the front sight, the scope or the RMR. Mark: Yes, I'm afraid that you're right on that one! Double BC: Yes, thanks very much. It is a classy double rifle for sure!

Took possession of my Searcy 375 flanged magnum tbree weeks ago. It's the rising bite sidelock, and I'm off to Namibia with it on Thursday. As I recall UEG, Butch regulated it with 63 grains of RL-15 which duplicates the Kynamco 300 grain flanged magnum commercial load. As I do not like a filler, Have worked up a load with IMR4350, began at 73 grains and believe 74 may do. Use usual precautions working up your own load, of course. Will post pix once have done the hunt. No time now. Regards, Tim

Am using Swift A-frame, Steve. Have some BBS-13, but no time to check load for them. Have needed a lower front sight bead; have figured out the Trijicon rmr6, and have a Leopold vx6 that is sighted in In the terrain in Namibia, believe the reflex sight will be good. Regards. Tim

Tim, I see you mention a filler with RL15 in the 375 Flnaged Mag. Is this necessary? I have not used one sub .400 caliber. Cheers, Chris DRSS

Back from Southern Africa and a fine two weeks in Namibia. Took a Mountain Zebra; an Eland, wounded and finally brought to bag thanks to Master Hunting guides on the farm; and the old, stumpy-horned gemsbok depicted below with the rifle, me and guide Moses Kashonga (who can also shoot). Used the Trijicon rmr06 on all shots and it works for old eyes. Rifle is back with Butch for some minor tweaking. It's a left-handed sidelock, rising bite with 24-inch barrels in .375 flanged magnum that is also fitted with scope. The Swift A-frame handloads broke both the zebra stallions shoulders and kept going. Regards, Tim PS Rockdoc, Butch tells me he uses a filler (not sure what) with RL-15. I find IMR4350 has enough loading density that I don't need to add a filler.
