You're right and I've corrected my above post to reflect that. However, after considering what Roosevelt's Fox sold for, I think I'm low. True, Hemingway is not a President, but I'm now thinking a hammer of over $500,000. xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere. NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR. I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Really don't mind the single trigger if it is a WR. Probably the most mechanically sound single-trigger made. Don't ever remember Sutherland complaining about any failures and he owned two of them. Dutch

I would prefer no engraving at all, rather than those dreadful cartoon lookalikes.

Cool post... thanks for bringing it to our attention Jeff! And just for the record, I personally would love to own it! Alas, I am afraid it is above my meager pay grade... I am guessing it will fetch $450K and will probably be purchased by a museum rather than a collector. My feelings as well. Sutherland actually said that his ST Westley Richards doubles never failed him. But then again, he only killed 1,200 elephants, so what did he know? I'm no expert, but without the EH connection, I'd think that this rifle would bring somewhere around $100K, depending on the usual considerations. This will be fun to watch. That Rhino engraving (I guess that's a Rhino) looks like a baby Dinosaur! "Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid" -- Ronald Reagan "Ignorance of The People gives strength to totalitarians." Over 500k for that? Anything North of 50k is all Hemingway. Why anyone would spill an extra 450k over intrinsic value is beyond me. Maybe it's because I particularly dislike WR but I just don't see it.

I'm going to venture forth that it will sell for between 150-250K, all in!

I've seen canceled checks of Hem's sell for 3 grand. Books for 25K - 30K. 500K aint a hell of a lot for a guy who wants to own something just so he can say he does.

Just for the hell of it, I will guess that it will hammer at around $230K plus premium. So, about $264,500 all in. There are some other doubles in the auction. One that comes to mind is a really nice high condition Army & Navy.

Awful, another poster mentioned the rhino looks like a dinosaur, I agree, it reminds me of the dinosaurs from "The Flintstones".

I can't really defend the stylized Westley animals but I like their standard tight scroll and have seen some real nice ancanthus wallpaper on their guns. I wouldn't mind having those funny animal engravings in my gun room at all.

He thought I should bid on EH's .577 as well. I told him when a green monkey jumps out my rear-end. I could almost retire on that rifle. Dutch

Listen pal, I've donated more than enough to the Fulson Fund with my purchases of "Boddington on..." You should be able to afford a Lamborghini to transport that double from my purchases alone And if you need more dough get with it and produce: Boddington on Bunnies Boddington on Jackalopes Boddington on Beer Bellies Boddington on Boddington The list goes on and on and on ... What puts me off is the AWFUL WR top lever system. Nobody uses it now patents on the Scott system have expired as it is, quite frankly, an awful arrangement as the right hand horn on the lever always eventually wears.
