This big old doe was crossing a wide part of Northfork Lake in Missouri

Must have some "throw-back" gene to caribou in her.

I have no idea why she went to that effort to swim that far. Maybe she had a boyfriend over there.

By the way - a correction - It was in a part of the lake that was in Arkansas not Missouri as I previously stated.

We also saw something quite unusual. An eagle came down and snatched our bait out of the water with the line still attached.

Fortunately the hook pulled out of the mouth of the bait and the eagle flew up into a tree to enjoy his snack. Unfortunately I was not fast enough to get the camera on him.

It would not have been fun to reel in an eagle so we were quite happy with the outcome.
