This picture was given to me by one of my clients whose great uncle took it in the Yukon or upper British Columbia in the 40's.

He was a prospector and soon after taking this picture he suffered a shot to his arm when his shotgun went off in the canoe.

There was so much damage he amputated it himself and paddled out using one arm.

Picked totally clean, but no overgrowth of moss or lichens. Must have happened early the previous autumn. Great pict. Does your client have any more on the story of his great uncle? thanks

I will check on the great uncle the next time my client comes in. He seems like an interesting fellow.

Very cool, P. A buddy of a buddy found the same thing in the White Mountains of NH, but there was a lot more meat on them. About 1500 lbs worth.

There was a hunter here in NY who found three deer locked together ,very much alive !! He took the deer and had the three locked together heads as a wall mount.

Do a google search for "Forever Locked". There were two moose found a few years back locked and dead, and the DNR of the state (Maine I think) had the two mounted full body locked together, pretty cool.

I picked up a little more from my client yesterday.

His great uncle kept prospecting despite the loss of an arm and evidently found some gold at some point because he later bought a lot of property in what is now downtown Vancouver.

He also bought some property which is going to be part of the site of the 2010? winter olympics.

My client (not a hunter) related a sad story too. The client as a child was in his great uncles house after his passing and found in the attic his great uncles rifle.

He said it was some type of "lever rifle" and had a handmade pouch made of "skin" on the stock. The pouch had some bullets in it.

His aunt put the rifle up in the rafters so the kids would not get to it.

She later rented the house and when the renters moved out the rifle had disappeared.

That's an outstanding pic. I'm surprised that the bones weren't scattered. Most of them are still in position, I guess the larger carnivores didn't find them.

That is a great Photo!

I never knew that when moose die they end up with both shoulder blades on the same side.
Lucky break also that when the moose deteriorated the skeleton of the one on the left was held up by his inverted third shoulder blade.

A little positioning for a good pict is entirely acceptable--just like we do when we pose with our kills. Certainly the legs had to be scattered a bit and had to be put in position for the pict. Most of the ribs are gone also, so some larger predator was there. Still a wonderful pict.
