Village of Minhanha and surrounding countryside.
The cashew, papaya, coconut, mango, and other fruit trees had been brought in many years ago by the Portuguese.
The villagers planted mainly corn and mandioca/cassava. The women did all the work, although many young men approached us looking for a job with the hunting camp. Elephants reportedly took 25%+ of their crops. One big bull occasionally drove the people away from the small lake where they washed. We narrowly missed getting him one evening.
Tsetse flies limited the village animals to only goats and chickens.

Very intersting. Do you have some more?

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

Palmer,
Some more are in the AR forum--"Hunting Reports-Africa" under "Cabo del Gado"

Interestingly to me, although the people had the bore-holes with handpumps for drinking water, and the lake for bathing and washing, many people seemed to prefer drinking the lake water, apparently it had a sweeter taste than the bore-hole water.

This was in the dry season, and these rocks were at the top of a hill. The water came in from the bottom or the pools.
