PalmerIs that part of the creek engineers wanted to dam up for water for Ft. Smith a few years ago?

SGraves155Allen,
They've dammed Lee Creek just above its confluence with the Arkansas at Van Buren, and they've greatly enlarged the dam at Mountainburg which now encompasses the old Lake Fort Smith and the old Lake Shepherd Springs. There's been some county interest in damming Lee Creek before it flows into Oklahoma, but I don't recall any talk of dams on Cedar Creek or Frog Bayou. The new dam at Mountainburg is high enough that the tailwaters should be able to support trout. The G&F is worried that any stocked trout would starve out the brownies and goggleyes.

fla3006Really, really beautiful. You're lucky to like in such a place. I'm surprised no one has rescued that old Chevy.

The SpecialistNeeds a bit of work that Chevy.

Beautiful place, I'd love to take my 8 year old niece there. She is mad for any water, pond, stream, puddle, whatever that might have something living in it.
