Anyone done one of these? I can see some distinct advantages to the larger bore size but wonder if anyone has some real world data?

Thanks

The only reason I can see doing it is that you want one.

Personally I shoot a 6.5x47 and I'd rather keep it the way it is. A 7mm-250 Savage is what you are really getting.

Well, there's some data out there. Seems like some of the BR boys have built them. Data well ahead of a 7mm IHMSA (7mm .300 savage).

Easier.....

280-30 Enfield?
7mm Donaldson International....

Following our conversation I'm now leaning towards a 6mm Donaldson Int'. Deer Legal and I can step it down to 6x45 speeds should I wish something more suttle.
Dies/Data available
Brass/Bullets a'plenty

Or is it just another for the think tank.....

A 338x47 would make a sweet subsonic with 300 grain high BC bullets. 1 in 8.5" twist on a short action.

338x47 sounds like a lot of fun..

Some have done the 338BR and flattened a pile of deer with that. I would have thought the 338 Federal would be useful stuffed full of Trail Boss and Noslers.

I'm afraid Zee and I kick some silly stuff about now and again.

Ballisticpromisquity will do that to you......

Actually Vittorio Giani of MAG armi in Italy shown this wildcat ( well, I'd call it proprietary) during the last italian gun show. He call it 7 x 47 GS ( Giani Special), loaded with monolithic bullets ( Lutz Moller bullets)

Sometimes I think long and hard about what I would like to achieve in a wildcat.....

Only to find that by slowing/downloading an already available factory cartridge, I can produce the very desired effects that may take so long to obtain in the above.....

And still have an easily obtainable round should I by some disaster be split from my ammunition.....
