Have been playing mental gymnastics with a virtual wildcat for a while. Necking up the 6.8 SPC to 348 for a maximum bullet diameter minimal shoulder on the 6.8 SPC case. The idea is to shoot 160 grain bullets at 2,400 Fps, 180's at 2,300 FPS, 200's @ 2,200 FPS, 220's just above 2,000 and 250's subsonic. The best results with 160 to 180 grain bullets obviously. A CQC round or bear/hog thumping round at under 200 yards. Similar performance to the 35 Remington with 348 bullets. Would require taking out the rib in Magazines for semi auto rifles. What do you think? 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

Boom I like your idea but why now go to .338 cal? Much better choice of bullets. The .348caliber is a "odd" caliber nowdays. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

I was figuring the length of .338 bullets might be a problem in the AR mag. What .348 bullet do you think will work best for your wildcat? Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

200 grain Hornady interlock for cost and length. Hornady 200 grain FTX for BC and a custom 165 grain for top speed is what I was thinking. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

I don't have any components to make dummies yet but I'm sure it will be an ass kicker. 40 thou fatter than the 300 blackout in case head and bullet and 1/4" longer case length. The 6.8 is only getting more popular and if you don't mind the odd bullet diameter it's an intriguing wildcat IMHO. I will keep an eye out for used cases to fiddle with to make dummies. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

Another parent case to take a look at is the 7.62x45 Czech. http://www.mauser98.com/brass.html They can be made from 6.5x54 MS. .412 at the shoulder. Could easiely get a .358 bullet in that & maybe even a .375 bullet. Wildcatting is FUN! Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant.
