boom stick2.1" 375 ruger case 85 grains of water. same as wsm!!!
my calculations have made me come to the conclusion that a 2.1" (read short action) version of a 375 ruger will be 85 grains case capacity...4 more than the 376 steyer and 19 more than the 30-06...
and the same capacity as the wsm line!!!
this is because of the minimal body taper
so whatever the wsm can do this can do too...where is the advantage you say?
NO REBATE!
sooooo 5% more performance than similar bores based on the 06 case at the same preasure.
308 ruger short 220@ 2625
338 ruger short 250@ 2550
358 ruger short 270@ 2625
375 ruger short 300@ 2500 easy
416 ruger short 400@ 2150
458 ruger short 450@ 2050
the only real reason to have the short ruger is to a) have no rebate for better feeding and b)cuzz brownchester never made a 338, 358, 375, 416 and 458 version
rugady-horner...are you listening?
since you will not make them most likely i will have to call air dibs on them.
what is a good name??? a.r. short mags? the AMERICAN line of carts? or the ol' stand by boom stick short mag bssm fer short (pun intended) heh, sounds like bussom if you say it phoneticly

Big-footOne of the main problems with WSM and WSSM brass is the thickness and hardness of it making wildcatting difficult. If the Ruger brass is more easily workable I expect good things to come from it. How about 6.5mm catridge with the capacity of the 6.5x257 Roberts AI with a 1/2" long neck so both long and short bullets can be seated to the lands. For a short action of course.

boom stickthe great thing is the 2.0" versions still have more capacity than the 06! 6.5-06 performance in a 260 rem action...nothing is easy that is worth it...but if you wanted a cal short mag that is not covered by rembrownchester this has merrit. rechamber a 350 rem mag for example ect

WoodjackBoomStk,
help me out here,
Your 2.1" ruger case head dia. is smaller than the shoulder dia of a
WSM, how can that equate to equal capacity???

boom stickless body taper and probably thinner walls...
even if it is a bit less it is still a great round even at 2.0"!
101+ grains capacity in the ruger case and this would be about 85% of that. and the 2.0 version would be about 80 grains!

Bwana-beSure. Another way to look at it is, we already know and love the short belted case (6.5 Rem and 350 Rem were BIG hits, right?! - seriously, a great idea in my mind) so you get that case without the wasted space of the belt, and less taper. I have a hard time believing it would actually match the WSM, but no doubt it will come close, and surpass the "original" short magnums.
