Read http://www.reloadersnest.com/q...389&BulletWeight=180

180 338s at 2544 (Ironically EXACTLY what I clocked a 7BR doing with 139 SSTs in custom 21")

those 338 Whisper was shot in an 18.5".

The 338 and 358 on a 7mmBR case seems like a neat round up to 200-250 yds. 35 cal would as we know give pistol bullet options for more economical practice/plinking.

Looks on the surface that a 35 BR would do almost what one person was getting with a WSSM case. Put in a std. short action, OAL would never be an issue.

Thoughts?

Read some past posts on that neat round, a good one for an AR no doubt. When I want more than a 6.5-7mm I jump to the 338 and 358 bore, both really slap game.....cannot 'not respect' the killing power they display when you witness it.

I would like to know what a bullet like a 180 XTP would do perhaps at 2600 MV would do on a broadside deer? Lights out? I know a spitzer will trump it out at longer range, but woods hunting.....should be a solid performer as other 'light 35 bullets' I would think.

The 35 BR lags the WSSM case by a 300-400 FPS margin.

If you're hot for one, AJ Brown has a reamer and a good bit of experience with the 35 BR.

Had no idea there would be that much difference.

What speeds are they running with 180/200/225?

AJ has more data than I on the BR case - I went with the WSSM and PPC.

180's in a bolt gun will get you in the high 2300 to low 2400 range.

200's in the 2100-2250.

As I recall you've get about 38.5-40.0g of H20 in the 35 BR, 37.7-39g with the Gremlin vs 57g with the WSSM/BFG.

I had a savage 10fcm rebarreled by SSK to 338 whisper.

I use sierra 300 hpbt or NEI 305 cast from wheel weights. The silencer is one I made from aluminum tubing and barstock. The baffles are conical and K shaped, blast baffle is SS. The mag is part of an M-14 mag welded to the bottom of the savage mag. It shoots better than 1 moa with the sierra, nearly as well with the cast.

I only shoot subsonic, 12 grains of surplus WC820 (like H110) gives 1050 fps with a stdev of less than 20 fps.
