Has anyone done a 405-70 or a 405-90? A 45-70 or 45-90 necked to .410 Surprisingly the capacity of the 405-70 would be the same as the 405 win. Thought it would be interesting for a 410 single shot conversion. Cheap brass. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. Wouldn't that be the same beast as a 40-70 for all purposes? NRA Life ASSRA Life DRSS Today's Quote: Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man a welfare check, a free cell phone with free monthly minutes, food stamps, section 8 housing, a forty ounce malt liquor, a crack pipe and some Air Jordan's and he votes Democrat for a lifetime.

Yes, I thought about that. This idea would only be interesting for 410 shotgun or single shot pistol conversions or those who like 410 or 405 bullets shooting a higher SD or BC bullet for nominal bullet weight. Also if someone wanted 405 win performance in a shorter version. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

Are you sure the 45/70 case has the same capacity as the 405 winny? I am guessing not. I base that on the two cartridges 375JDJ and the 378GNR, with the GNR having a 15% velocity edge.

Boomie, just call Shiloh Sharps and ask. Both are .406 or .410 bullets. Original is smaller, some new rifles are .410 bullets. Reason I know, is I got a Shiloh in 40-65 Rich
