25-224 Valkyrie? Seems like a winner in my book. 90 grains at 2700 120s @ maybe 2500 ish? Just needs a cute name like 25 Huck, short for 25 Huckleberry 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

There's already a 25 spc wildcat. "For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind..." Hosea 8:7

Thanks for the chime in. I’m sure that is awesome, but this is a shorter case length rather than a simple neck down and shoulder angle change of the 25 SPC that lets you load out longer, use heavier bullets or use higher BC bullets for down range goodness. It also has more capacity than the 25-45 Sharps so it should out perform that by a small margin. It would be cheap to make if you already had a 224 Valkyrie or a 6.8SPC, all you would need is a new barrel to swap and the dies and reamer. All else would be the same. I think the added long range oomph or heavier bullets makes the concept desirable. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. I suppose it depends upon the platform you’re using this cartridge with. If a bolt action is your platform then there is no issue with the .420” rim diameter and you’re 25-224 Valkyrie would work. If however your platform is the milspec AR15 then the issue of bolt trust rises it head and becomes an issue as it was designed around the .378” rim diameter at 55000 psi PMax (MAP). A solution to the milspec AR15 bolt trust issue would be to utilize the 24 Nosler case as your basis. The case length and bareheaded diameters are the same. The rim diameter rather than being .420” diameter rebated to the milspec AR15’s .378” diameter. An additional benefit is the need to only expand from the .243 bullet diameter to .257 bullet diameter and a simple replacement of the reloading die bushings would allow use of the 24 Nosler reloading dies. I was mulling this idea over before the 257 Bobcat. The Bobcat has better potential for AR15 use. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)
