the 50-110 brass is the cheapest and strongest, trim and stuff...
do you think you could get it to work in a std 06' action with the goal of 500gr@ 2,150???

HunterJimIIRC the .50-110 fostered the .348 Win case, which converted to rimless and shortened became the .300 WSM.
Jim Busha went this same path (and before Winchester did also), and designed both a .450 and .460 Heavy Express cartridges.
The .460 was 2.25" case length and a 46 degree shoulder. His data for this cartridge showed 400 gr at 2,500 fps; 450 gr at 2,375 fps; and 500 gr at 2,210 fps. This data was collected at 6,000 feet 15 ft from the muzzle. The rifle was a M70 Win with a 22" barrel.

boom stick
it would be better than the 510 whisper but not as good as the 50 peacekeeper

Bwana-beNot sure anyone would care for it except its mother.
I have a few rounds like that on paper - better like it if you make it, 'cause it'll be yours forever! ;-)
I've heard nothing but nightmares regarding rimmed cartridges and bolt actions. If you go completely off your rocker you could make a 50 AR and headspace off the mouth of the case. Make it about 2.7" long and keep the pressures low, and you might not blow anything up.
I was just looking again at my short 50 rigby (13x61mm Maus) with the nom. 3.1" COL and thinking about 500g bullets. They'd seat just beyond the base of the neck (cast WW would be right at the neck base) and seeing as how the 500g .510 has just about the same SD as the 270g .375" and 180g .308" it might be a great choice for NA "brush bustin'!"
Not sure what the dim's are for Barnes' bore rider, but it would be interesting to try and calculate a guessload for it on this case.
