For all the 6.5 caliber fans...Marc Jamison now
has made available new .256 Newton brass. All
correctly headstamped .256 Newton.
This is good news! The "classic" of the Classics,
the .256 Newton was preferred to the .257 Roberts &
.270 Winchester by the expert riflemen of the day.
And yes, gunsmiths still chamber for it.
Reamers are available. The cartridge was described by P.O. Ackley as one of the finest in its class.
Yes, indeed. It's very much a 6.5-06 slight
differences.
Performance is great. I get 3115 fps with the 129 gr. Hornady 6.5, and 3,000+ fps with the 140 gr. in my original .256 Newton Rifle.
Jamison will sell it directly...call 605-347-5090. Midway will have it soon too.
Don't bother with the oddball 6.5's...get a .256 Newton (he used the land to land diameter for the .256 designation)..but its a 6.5 to us.
I'd been hoping for this for a long time..he will follow with the .30 Newton & .35 Newton I'm told...those provide lots of great cases for great wildcats...I already have a .280 Newton & a .416 Newton based on the .30 Newton case.
Aloha, All!

That's cool news. I know it had been in the works for a while now. Do they have a website or some sort? It'd be interesting to see what other off-the-wall brass they offer.

That is good news, since I hate making 256 Newton cases!

What sort of velocities are peopleobtaining with the .35 Newton?

I would assume/guess, the cartridge is capable of .338 Win Mag to .358 Norma Mag velocities with 250 grain bullets?

Is there information for heavier bullets / velocities?

Once again, I am guessing the .35 Newton would be comparable to a 9.3x64 Brenneke

Guys, this Jamison brass is beautiful and the necks are perfectly concentric. Velocities in the .35 Newton crowd 2900fps in my rifle with no pressure signs, so another 75-100fps should be no problem. The 270 gr Northforks delivered 2778fps with 76.0 - RL19, also with no pressure signs. These velocities are not maximum for my gun, but recoil gets stiff at this point.
