Normally I would just buy the reamer, but Midway has made this a special order reamer. Anyone have one sitting on their shelf that I can borrow, trade, or purchase?

i would get a custom reamer made to your brass specs because of saami's sloppy tolerances.

have a tight chamber for more accuracy and more power.

buy 1000 pieces of good brass from the same run for consistancy.

or do a 358 hawk.

good luck...

I own a bunch of custom spec reamers and in general I agree with you. Owning your own tight spec reamer when you are going to chamber multiple match grade barrels is the only way to go.

This is a simple hunting rifle project, where functionality is more valuable than absolute accuracy.

Biggest issue I have with buying a set of AI dies is how was the chamber cut??? I've seen way to many AI where the smith simply ran the reamer into a factory chamber. Leavign the shoulder to far forward. I would neck size only before I would buy AI dies.

As usual just my $.02

I'm the "smith" and the barrel is only rough chambered, so this shouldn't be an issue.

Just as boom stick said. When I was designing my 280PDK reamer I bought 280 Norma brass then had the reamer cut to minimum specs for the head of that brass.

Speaking from experience boom stick is correct, I rented the reamer for my 35 W AI, it was early in my career and I felt that it would be okay for a game rifle- IT WAS NOT. The base diameter of a sami specs reamer is about .010 larger than any brass I have found and therefore brass life sucks.

Solid-pilot reamers are $89 from PTG. Removable pilot slightly higher, and to your spec, I think.

I might would share the cost,,, shoot me an email.
