boom stick40-30-30? 30-30 straight wall necked to 10mm?
Has anyone shoe horned a 10mm pistol bullet into a 30-30 before? Yes, no taper. Would be legit for straight walled hunting. Lots of bullet weights from 130 to 220 grain. Was thinking the hard cast 220 grain bullets @ 2,000 FPS would be fun lever action thumper. 10-30? 40-30? Just a fun 200 yard Hog Hammer. Hmmm… 10MM Hog Hammer? 10mm HHH? Hillbilly Hog Hammer?

10mm RNE? (Red Neck Express or Rimmed Nitro Express, your choice)

That reminds me about my idea to turn the 400 “Legend” into the 411 “Legend” to shoot 300 grain 405 bullets. AKA the 400 Legendary
The 10mm Red Neck Express or 40 Red Neck Express in freedom units would be far more powerful and fun being in a lever action the way God intended.
I may have sand bagged too much… 400 Legend shoots about the same pressure, so 215 grains @ 2250 so with the extra .3” of OAL you should push those same 215 cone shape bullets 3% faster being 12% case capacity increase. So the 40-30 AKA 10mm BamBam will do 2,300 FPS with the same bullets.

buckdeerWhen winchester developed the 375 winchester then experimented with a 400 caliber on the same case. I don't know if they ever built a gun or not
I have built a few 405 Shorts, using 303 brass, but none using 30-30. All used .410/411 bullets. Seems like everyone these days wants bullets to be lighter and go slower; a foreign concept to me.
I built one on a Marlin and the owner said he got 405 WCF ballistics; every time he fired it the lever opened by itself. I told him to stop loading like that.

Wow! A semi semi auto

A 405 2 1/4” sounds pretty great actually in a compact lever gun. I was thinking about how to use the plethora of premium pistol bullets in the relatively high pressure for lever action 30-30 case. So many wildcats, so little time. I hope that God does not take away from my life the time I spend doing things like this

buckdeerYou might find the 220 swift case makes a better straight wall 400. It gives you a little bit more case taper

boom stickThat would be more practical but a pain in the ass to form from 220 cases. Perhaps the 303 Brit would be a better base case to start from for that. The 10-303 Brit would be much easier to form.
might as well just buy some brass 410 shells.

wildmansixSounds like a 45/50 straight sharps, just .200 longer.
