how would you "big bore" the 9,3x64 brass?? i am thinking 13 thou body taper 25 thou per shoulder 35 degrees necked to a 416 with one cal neck...or 27 thou shoulders to a 411 bullet. minimal for the big 5 but good if you want to make big holes at a moderate velocity... neck up, fireform and HOPEFULLY an extra round down than the 416 taylor, no belt and only about a 3ish percent case volume loss than the 416 taylor. (the taylor has a 5 thou bigger casehead) 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

sorry, yeah 64 it would only make sense if you can get an extra round down or just go to the 375 ruger brass... 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

it might be better as a standard length 375...for certain a 375 or 400 Whelen on steroids. You caused me to get up from my comfortable chair here and walk all the way out into the shop, just to measure one. Case capacity, up to base of the neck is 71grains of Varget, a nice ball powder. Blown out, it might hold 74-75gr. That would make a very real-world useful 375 or 411-416. All you would need to do is open up the boltface about .020" and go from there. Back in 1993-94 I built a 6-284 on steroids using this case. Add a solid 350-400fps to the top end 6-284 Loading data and you are there. One weighed set of 20 cases lasted more than 25 loadings each by just neck sizing after the fireforming work. This is a great middle ground cartridge to wildcat. Rich
