I thought this was kinda interesting enough to share... Since the caseheads are the same for the Beowulf and WSSM line use WSSM dies and Beowulf brass for a WSSM power AR15 and a Beowulf rim. But what I reeeely like is the idea of morphing the 6.5 Grendel with the 50 beowulf to get an almost 260 Rem powered AR15 aircat dubbed the 6.5 Gren-Wulf. It will be a fat version of the Grendel. Make it Grendel brass and oal lengths so longer hunting and target bullets could be used. Keep the shoulder position and angle but have the shoulder diameter and casehead be that of the Beowulfs. I see this as a great 1000 yard benchrest AR15/hunting AR15 cart. A regular WSSM rim with the same dimensions would be great for bolt guns as well. Both the Grendel and Beowulf are Alexander Arms creations so they might like this hybrid idea. 50 Beowulf 6.5 Grendel 243 WSSM 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. Beowulf case head is the same as 7.62x39, .444. WSSM is .534. If you start necking Beowulf brass down, your pressures are going to go up...and bolt failure of that 7.62x39 bolt(regardless if it is AA's "improved" design, or a run of the mill bolt) won't be far behind. Start reading about the bolt failures on the Grendel for those that push it a wee bit. | |||
